Body

Saturday evening, Aug. 14, Abby Burt, the 2020-2021 President of the Littlefield 4-H Club, served as Emcee for the 2021 Lamb County 4-H Awards Banquet, which was held in Littlefield’s Ag and Community Center.

To begin the program, she invited Ty Carr to lead the opening prayer, followed by Piper Carr to lead the “Pledge of Allegiance”, and Valaree Harper to lead the “4-H Motto”.

Theme for the banquet was “Making the Best Better”.

The evening’s awards were presented in recognition and celebration of the county’s 4-H members, volunteers, and supporters of the 4-H program.

Hamburger meal

Abby directed those seated when to get in line to get their hamburger meals. Eating time was observed for fellowship enjoyment to catch up with visits with others.

After the meal, special guests were welcomed by 4-H’er Brindle Harper.

Club Managers applauded

Connie Burt, President of the Adult Leaders’ Association, presented appreciation gifts to the 4-H Club Managers: Colleen Wilson and Mary Bass from the Olton 4-H Club; Suzanne Reese and Missy Bigham from the Sudan 4-H Club; and Shaylee Harper, from the Littlefield 4-H Club.

Volunteer leaders recognized

Lydia Burt introduced the volunteer leaders for each of the clubs, “who dedicate their time, money, and efforts to truly make the best bettter.” She asked them all to stand for reognition, and they were given an applause.

SPECIAL AWARD WINNERS

The top 4-H awards were among the last to be presented during the program.

Included were the two Gold Star Awards that went to 7-year Lamb County 4-H Member Taryn Golden, and 5-year 4-H member Dell Smith.

The Silver Star Awards were preented to JT Burt, the 14-yearold son of Mitchel and Connie Burt of Littlefield.; and to Ty Carr, the 13-year-old son of Tyson and Alana Carr of Littlefield.

The two Bronze Star Awards were presented to Lillian Burt, the 9-year-old daughter of Mitchel and Connie Burt of Littlefield; and to Ryan Muller, the 11-year-old son of Kyle and Janet Muller.

The “I Dare You Awards” went to siblings: Lydia and Abigail Burt.

The “Friend of 4-H Award” was awarded to Ag Texas .

The “Distinguished Leader Award” was presented to Lyndall Favor, who has been dedicated to the 4-H Shooting Sports projects.

The “Silver Spur Awards”, the highest honor given to an adult or couple for their support of the 4-H program, were presented to Michael and Rosemary Peggram of Olton.

The Adult Leaders Association Scholarship was awarded to Abigail Burt.

RECORD BOOKS

Taryn Golden introduced the 4-H’ers who had the 25 record books that were submitted at the county level this year. There were 21 junior, intermediate and senior record books that advanced to the District 2 4-H Record book competition

JUNIORS:

First places: Charlie Burt, Lilli Burt, Ryan Muller, and Piper Carr.

Second places: Grant Muller and Reno Smith.

Third place: Kellen Meredith.

INTERMEDIATES:

First places: Rhealee Golden, Ty Carr, and Brennan Meredith.

Second places: Claire Lostroh, Jaden Burt, Scout Smith; and JT Burt.

Third Places: Kauy Carr, and Garicyn Bigham.

SENIORS:

Third places: Taryn Golden, Drew Carr, Lydia Burt, and Dell Smith.

Fifth Place: Abby Burt.

YEAR AWARDS

4-H’er Brindle Harper and Clay Carr of First United Bank of Sudan presented the t-shirts and 4-H caps year awards to the 4-H’ers.

First year awards went to Lillian Burt, Hunter Dwyer, Wesson Dwyer and Grant Muller.

Second-year members are: Brianna Acevedo, Brinley Acevedo, Charlie Burt, Loren Campbell, Drew Carr, Brenna Lowe, Tinslee Miller and Reno Smith.

Third-year members are: Colby Burns, Callen Burns, Kauy Carrr, Piper Carr, MaKenzie DeBerry, Haydin Hardin, Valaree Harper, Brennen Meredith, Kellen Meredith, Ryan Muller, Emma Romero and Scout Smith.

Fourth-year members are: Rhealee Golden and Claire Lostroh..

Fifth-year members are: Jaden Burt, Kealee Bussey, Ty Carr, Wyatt DeBerry, Steven Lowe and Tayte Miller.

Sixth-year 4-H’ers are; Garicyn Bigham, JT Burt, Tanner Lostroh, Teagan Miller, Bonnie Rese,Dell Smith and Katy Wilson.

The seven-year members are Taryn Golden, Cash Hardin, Brindle Harper, Kaila Young and Nicole Young.

Eight-year members are Livia Fulenwider and Braelyn Pointer.

The lone nine-year member is Lydia Burt.

The two 10-year 4-H members are Abby Burt and Britton Pointer.

EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Alana Carr of the Adult Leaders Association and 4-H’er Lydia Burt presented the Excellence Awards. Those 4-H members had to submit a completed recordbook and place first at a district 4-H contest or regional or state stock show, and more.

Sponsors of the special gifts they received were Wellington Bank, Prosperity Bank and First Bank and Trust, all of Littefield.

SENIOR EXCELLENCE:

Abby Burt, Lydia Burt, Drew Carr, Taryn Golden and Brindle Harper.

INTERMEDIATES:

Extension Agents honored

The Littlefield 4-H Club made a special presentation to the two Lamb County Extension Agents: Kyle Howard and Kendra Callahan, who work with the 4-H youth and their special projects.

To close the program, Ryan Muller led the closing 4-H Prayer.

There was a fun photo op booth set up, for special family pictures, and games were available for families to enjoy.
