Get ready to Celebrate in Amherst!

The Annual Amherst Days Celebration is scheduled for all day Saturday, July 31, 2021, in the City of Amherst’s City Park.

The celebration parade will begin lining up at 9 a.m. on the street south of the Amherst City Hall near the Gin.

The parade will begin moving northward down Main Street at 10 a.m., and will end up near the Amherst City Park, where everyone will gather for entertainment, food, fun, laughter, and much more.

From 11 a.m. that morning, to 11:30 p.m. that night, there will be a lot of activities, including food and drink booths, game booths, and many more vendors offering something for everyone.

If you wish to have a booth, please contact Amherst City Hall at 806-246-3421, or a Chamber Board member.

Booths without electricity are $40, while a booth with electricity is $50. A price difference of $10 extra per booth will be added if the booth is added the day of the celebration.

During the day, entertainment will be provided on the stage near the pavilion.

On the tennis court in the park, a kids’ mini tractor pull will be judged, a bouncy house will be free entertainment for the youngsters, ages 2 thru 10 years of age, and a volleyball tournament will be set up for those interested.

An auction sale will be conducted from 2 to 3 p.m. to raise funding for the Chamber of Commerce.

At 8 p.m. music and dancing will begin in the pavilion.

At 11 p.m., the grand prize winner of a John Deere Zero-Turn Lawn Mower will be announced.

Members of the Amherst 2021 Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture Board are excited with the prospects of this year’s celebration, and invite people from the area to go and join them.

Board Member Officers are: Maria Gonzales, President; Kimberly Brantley, Vice President; Jan Miller, Treasurer; Hayle Martinez, Secretary; and Oscar Gonzales, Reporter. The other Board members are: Rd Gass, Amanda Mata, Addy Holguin, Liliana Jimenez, and Jennifer Sawyer.
