41st Annual Panhandle Parade of Breeds is scheduled this week June 15th-17th

The 41st annual Panhandle Parade of Breeds junior heifer and steer show will be held June 15, 16 and 17 at the Ollie Liner Center, Plainview, TX. The barn opens at 12 noon Thursday for arrival of heifers and steers. All Mini breeds must be checked in on Thursday. Showmanship entries close at 6 p.m. Thursday. Steer weight cards turned in and steers classified between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Heifers will also be checked in between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. An exhibitor dance will be held between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The barns will close at 11:00 p.m.

The barns will be open at 5:00 a.m. Friday, June 16. Steer weight cards turned in and steers classified between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The Gebo’s sponsored writing contest (about the livestock industry) will run between 7:30 a,m. and 9:00 a.m. The Mini-Hereford show begins at 9:00 a.m. followed by the showmanship contest. Junior, intermediate and senior age levels will be held for heifer exhibitors in Ring B and steer exhibitors in Ring A. 30 minutes after the conclusion of the showmanship contest, the Progress Steer Show will begin in Ring A and then animals will move to Ring B for judging. Progress steers weigh 876 pounds and above. The Gebo Supreme Champion Heifer Show will follow the Progress Steer Show. Judges for the steer and heifer show will be Chad Coburn, Sterling City, Texas and Nick Fitzsimmons, Perry, Oklahoma.

Judging of Prospect steers, those weighing 875 pounds and less, begins at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17. American breeds will be judged first, followed by English breeds, Continental breeds and crosses. The show is open to the public. There is no admission fee.
