Scarlett Hatley Claunch passed from this earth Monday, January 10, 2022 after a lengthy illness at the age of 70.
Born on October 18, 1951 in the state of Illinois, she was raised in Littlefield, Texas by her dad, Don Hatley and her aunt, Mary Dennis. She graduated from Littlefield High School with the class of 1969. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Rodney Claunch on August 22, 1969 in Littlefield at her parent's home. Scarlett was employed in the banking industry for many years. She was an instructor of Cosmetology at South Plains College. She retired in June 2011 from the Lubbock Baptist Association. She was an officer of Texas Ministry Assistant's Association, and she was co-founder of the Lonestar Cowboy Church in Lubbock, Texas. Her hobbies included quilting, jigsaw puzzles, her grandkids along with her dogs Zoe and Cash.
She is preceded in death by her father, Don Hatley; son, Mark Claunch; and in-laws Robert and Maudena Claunch.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney; sons, Jimmy Claunch and wife, Katrina and Shawn Claunch all of Lubbock; four grand-children; three great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Terry Davis and husband, Butch of Morton; brother, Kerry Hatley and wife, Angie of Midland; sisters, Shannon Edwards and husband, Larry of Amherst and Donna Smith of Littlefield; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2022 at Lonestar Cowboy Church in Lubbock (1309 E FM 1585). Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park with Ryan Davis, Bradley Mills, Paul Harben, Rusty Powell, Nate Cruz and Jacob Cruz serving as pallbearers and Logan Garner, McCade Garner and Christopher Broadstreet serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Scarlett's honor to the Lonestar Cowboy Church, 1309 E FM 1585, Lubbock TX 79423.
