Joy Marie Runyon, 87, of Earth, TX, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, Sept. 12,2026, at the First Baptist Church in Earth with Brother Jackie Gestes officiating. Interment followed at Earth Memorial Cemetery under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Joy was bom May 8, 1939, in Lazbuddie, TX, to Leonard and Eula (Darling) Smith. She graduated from Lazbuddie ----------------------------------------------High School and attended beautician school. On June 5, 1957, she married Donald Runyon.
Joy owned and operated Joy’s Beauty Salon in Earth for more than 30 years. Following Don’s passing in 1990, Joy took on the family farming operation while continuing to operate her beauty salon. She farmed and managed more than 1,200 acres for over 20 years.
She was a talented quilter and painter. She also enjoyed square dancing and taking care of her yard.
