J Edward Jennings, 96, of Littlefield, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at Harmonee House in Amherst. He was born on Oct. 22, 1925 in Paducah, TX to Robert Cecil Jennings and Mildred Eva McClure Jennings.
As a Naval veteran, he served from Dec.1943 to June 1952. Serving aboard the USS Gambier Bay, the USS Ajax, the USS Orvetta and the APL-11. He was a recipient of four medals from the Asiatic Pacific Area 1 Star, the American Area, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Victory Medal of World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Motor Machinist’s Mate Third Class. Also, served during the Korean War from Feb. 3, 1951 to June 3, 1952 and was honorably discharged the second time.
He started selling insurance in 1969. On Oct. 17, 1978, he received a certification as a Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College at Bryn Maur, Penn. He started Jennings Insurance Agency after receiving his CLU. He retired from the Jennings Insurance Agency five years ago. He was a member of the Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield.
J Edward Jennings married Christine Sorensen on July 29, 1950. A memorial service will be held at, a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home.
