Gwen Simpson, 84, of Littlefield, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born February 10, 1940, in Morton, Texas to Jack and Eva Baker. She married Billy Simpson March 22, 1958, in Morton, Texas.
Gwen's first concern was raising her family, she devoted her life to Billy, her children and grandchildren. She and Billy were known as being the favorite Aunt and Uncle by their nieces and nephews. She went to work at The Garden Center, Co-Manager of Crescent Park Motel, First National Bank and other various jobs after they moved to Littlefield from the Three-Way Community. She liked tending to her yard, flowers and just being outside. She had a "magic green thumb". She found joy in the little things such as feeling the sun on her face, having picnics and taking vacations in the mountains.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, James Micha Simpson and wife, Elizabeth of Littlefield, Texas; a daughter, Jan McCain and husband Keith, of Littlefield, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Simpson; a son, Billy Dale Simpson; a daughter, Gloria Lynskey; a brother, R.H. Baker; a sister, Tommie Uselton; and four grandchildren.
There will be a private burial at Enochs Cemetery and a Memorial Service at a later date.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
