Mark Yarbrough gives lecture filled with laughter, etc...

Mark Yarbrough spoke at the Ag Center, located at 1095 E. 17th St., on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Yarbrough spoke about burnout, something he struggled with while being a county and district attorney for Lamb County for 20 years.

Yarbrough’s lecture was filled with laughter, silly anecdotes, heartfelt stories, memes and Chewbacca. He talked about the signs and what he felt while dealing with burnout. Feeling tired or rundown, loss of motivation, using food, drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism and isolation are just some of the 13 symptoms of burnout Yarbrough talked about in his lecture.

Yarbrough also talked about the steps he took, and encourages others to take, to combat burnout. Some of those steps include focusing on the important things in life, giving back and remembering how good life can be.

After Yarbrough’s lecture, there was a drawing for two $30 gift cards, an assortment of candles and three dozen donuts.

Yarbrough spent the rest of the morning at the Littlefield library signing his book, “Suffer from Burnout? Give ‘ Em the F.I.N.G.E.R.!” Yarbrough will be speaking about burnout at the Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas, Texas from Monday, Aug. 8 through Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022.
