The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a fatal crash involving two vehicles six miles west of Earth at the intersection of US 70 and FM 303 on Oct. 20, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.
Robert Fuentes, 59, of Earth was driving a 2000 Ford Escort eastbound on Hwy 70. Stephen Edwards, 68, of Earth was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup westbound on US Hwy 70 and turned left at the intersection into the path of the eastbound Ford Escort. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Mr. Fuentes was killed as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. Mr. Edwards was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock, with incapacitating injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
