Mozelle Hedges, 94, of Amherst went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 in Amherst. She was born Feb. 8, 1927 in Vincent, OK to Joel Jones and Ruby (Chambers) Jones.
Mozelle married Arthur Hedges on May 24, 1944 in Olton, TX. Together the couple had five children, and Mozelle took great pride in caring for her family. She made their house a home and spent her days tending to the house and children. She was an excellent cook and made her family three homecooked meals a day. She was a strong woman of faith and spent countless hours praying for her family and those she loved daily, each by name. Arthur and Mozelle were longtime members of the First Baptist Church in Amherst.
She is survived by her three sons, Bobby Hedges and wife, Robyn of Sundown, TX, Eddie Hedges and wife, Elaine of Lubbock and Ronnie Hedges of Brownfield; two daughters, Darla Taylor and husband, Larry of Richmond, TX and Deb Hedges of Ruidoso, NM; twenty-eight grandchildren; fourty great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, Oct. 15, 2020; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Hedges; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 at Amherst First Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Hedges and Pastor John Hall officiating. Interment was held prior at 9:30 a.m., at Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Amherst First Baptist Church.
