Busy Saturday: Juneteenth, Rabies Clinic, Museum Re-opening

LINE-UP FOR HAMBURGERS – This was part of the cars that were lined up to receive their free hamburger meals at noon on Juneteenth Saturday, June 19, 2021. David Rosemond visits with the occupant of a car to which he had delivered hamburger meals in front of the Van Ashley Pavilion in Dunbar Park. There was an estimate that a total of about 240 hamburgers were served during the Juneteenth Celebration. A total of 250 beef patties were grilled for the burgers.

POUND CAKE JUDGING INSTRUCTIONS – Sharon Johnson, standing right, was giving instructions to the judges of the 17 pound cakes that were entered in the “best cake” contest. This was one of the first events for the Littlefield Juneteenth Celebration, held Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Dunbar Park, under the Van Ashley Pavilion. Geneva Simmons of Lubbock was the first-place winner, and the $40 prize. Second place and $20 was won by Shawna Wagley-Haskins of Littlefield.
