Jimmy Merrifield

Jimmy Merrifield, 81, of Littlefield, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Dimmitt, Texas. He was born on July 3, 1944, in Littlefield, Texas to Horace B. and Mary Louise Merrifield.
Jimmy graduated from Littlefield High School. He opened his very own radiator shop, Merrifield Radiator in 1978. Jimmy grew to be a hard worker and enjoyed fixing things with the hands the good Lord blessed him with. Learning new things came easy to Jimmy. Furthermore, he became a crane operator and trained his brother, Royce and son, Chris to that same skill. Jimmy was the infamous owner of the 1948 Buick hearse. He parked it in countless business parking lots and driveways for 40th and 50th. birthdays. Traveling with family was also a favorite pastime of his. He loved kids and was generous with his time and coached little league baseball. Jimmy was an avid Littlefield Wildcat's fan. Jimmy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Littlefield. Those that are native to Littlefield will remember the kind man that sold watermelons full of sweetness. Jimmy was patient in spirit and enjoyed fishing. He loved being around others because of the conversations and memories he was able to make. Jimmy was fluent in being a charismatic man that was good company to keep. He enjoyed the time spent with his family the most. His grandbabies called him, "Papa." Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Chris Merrifield and wife, Catherine of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Chad Merrifield and wife, Hyla of Dimmitt, Texas; step-son, Tommy King, IV and wife, Tammie of Lubbock, Texas; ten grandchildren, Ryan Merrifield and wife, Brittany of Chesapeake, Virginia, Haylie Marshall and spouse, Billy of Sherman, Texas, Kambra Heffington and spouse, Tanner of Littlefield, Texas, Krystan Merrifield of Lubbock, Texas, Kelby Merrifield of Pheonix, Arizona, Lauren Lambert and spouse, Matt of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Brett Thomas of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Erin Nichols and spouse, Travis of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Alexis Nix of Lubbock, Texas, and Alee King of Plainview, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren, Kane, Ella, Easton, Everly, Gracelyn, Gentry, Gradeigh, Jackson, Piper, Fletcher, and Annebelle; one brother, Royce Merrifield and wife, Rhesa of Littlefield, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family that also called him, "Papa." Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Horace B. and Mary Louise Merrifield; step-daughter, Ann Marie King; and two sisters, Judy Trotter and Marilynn Holly.
Funeral services for Jimmy Merrifield were held Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at the Frist Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas with Pastor Tanner Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jason Butler, Todd Butler, Rob Holly, Alan Holly, Mitch Merrifield, Josh Merrifield, and Adam Harvey.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
