Chris was born Oct. 19, 1979, in Hereford, TX, to Guadalupe Marin Avila and Regina (Griego) Avila. He worked as an oilfield supervisor for 22 years with Key Energy Services, where he was known for his dedication, leadership, and strong work ethic. Chris married Norma Gaytan, in 2022.
Chris was a 49ers fan and enjoyed dancing, grilling, and spending time with his children. He enjoyed music and often sang to the people he cared about—especially his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife; his son; his daughter; his five brothers; and his four sisters.

Chris Avila, 46, of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Earth, TX, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, 2025, at Iglesia Del Pueblo ( IDP) with Pastor Angie Castillo officiating. Interment followed at Earth Memorial Cemetery in Earth under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors.
