Salas, Humphrey compete at State Solo and Ensemble Contest

This year, Springlake-Earth had two students who qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Jocelyn Salas is on the left and Caydee Humphrey is on the right (pictured).

In order to qualify for State, students must recieve a Division 1 on a Class 1 solo in the Region UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest. For solos, this piece must be memorized. Both Ms. Humphrey and Ms. Salas qualified for their vocal solos. Ms. Humphrey also qualified with a Tenor Saxophone solo, being the only band student to qualify this year.

Each of these students have worked very hard this year and the Springlake-Earth Music department would like to recognize their hard work. Caydee Humphrey and Jocelyn Salas both competed in the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest on May 24th in Austin. Both students gave excellent performances and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.

The department would like to especially recognize Caydee Humphrey’s superior performance, earning her a Gold medal for her choir solo. While Jocelyn did not medal, we would also like to recognize her accomplishment of advancing to State in her first year in choir.

The SEISD Music Program would like to thank Caydee Humphrey and Jocelyn Salas for their accomplishment this year. We look forward to seeing their growth over the next year and, hopefully, another state performance by both!
