Planning & Zoning Commission okays a city zone change

The Littlefield Planning & Zoning Commission convened Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 5:15 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, in a special meeting for the purpose of considering all matters and related incidents to the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Attendance: Ray Vargas, President (absent), Lance Broadhurst, Vice President, Lori Zinn, Shawn Pickrell (absent), Johnny Rosemond, Willie Bryant (alternate), City Manager, Mitch Grant; and City Secretary, Janine Butler. One individual and two staff members were in the audience.

Vice President Lance Broadhurst called the meeting to order at 5:17 p.m.

Johnny Rosemond led the invocation, and Lance Broadhurst led the Pledge of Allegiance. No one requested to make a Public Comment of any of the Items on the Agenda.

Consider approval of minutes of Dec. 14, 2020 meeting.

Johnny Rosemond made the motion to approve the minutes, and Willie Bryant seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Consider and Approve Recommendation to City Council for Naming of Hwy 385 Business Park Addition-Property #17908 & #34502 (5.905 acres out of Tract 36, College Heights Addition to City of Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas).

The motion was made to recommend to City Council naming the new preliminary plat addition HWY 385 Business Park Addition. The second motion was made by Willie Bryant. The motion passed unanimously.

Public Hearing: Preliminary Plat for Hwy 385 Business Park Addition, Plat - Property 17908 & #34502 (5.905 acres out of Tract 36, College Heights Addition to City of Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas).

Public Hearing: Amending the Zoning Regulations of the City of Littlefield, Texas; Adding Zoning Change from C-1 Commercial-Light Retail, Etc. to C-2 Commercial General in Lots 1,2,4 of HWY 385 Business Park Addition – Property #17908 & #34502 (5.905 Acres Out of Tract 36, College Heights Addition to City of Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas).

Vice President Lance Broadhurst closed the regular session and opened the public hearings at 5:20p.m. Jeremy Cheatham with Centerline Engineering presented the Preliminary Plat, to answer any questions and request zoning change. No one requested to speak during the public hearings. Lance Broadhurst closed the public hearings and reopened the regular session at 5:23p.m. These items had been posted and published in newspaper and online June 4, 2021.

Consider and Approve Preliminary Plat for Hwy 385 Business Park Addition, Plat - Property #17908 & #34502 (5.905 acres out of Tract 36, College Heights Addition to City of Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas).

After a question of who pays for the street and utilities, with the answer being “the developer does,” the motion to approve the preliminary plat was made by Lori Zinn. The second motion was made by Johnny Rosemond. The motion passed unanimously.

Consider and Approve Resolution Recommending to City Council An OrdinanceAmending the Zoning Regulations of the City of Littlefield, Texas; Adding Zoning Change from C-1 Commercial - Light Retail, Etc. to C-2 Commercial General in Lots 1, 2, 4, of Hwy 385 Business Park Addition - Property #17908 & #34502 (5.905 Acres out of Tract 36, College Heights Addition to City of Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas).

The motion to approve the zone change from C-1 to C-2 for Lots 1, 2, 4 for this development was made by Lori Zinn. The second motion was made by Willie Bryant. The motion passed unanimously.

Vice President Lance Broadhurst adjourned the meeting at 5:32 p.m.
