KCBC Tv in Lubbock kicked off their Community Tour 2022 in Littlefield Monday, July 25. The Community Action Tour brings their broadcast audience on a tour of the communities in their viewing area.

The news organization along with several corporate sponsors traveled to Crescent Park in Littlefield to present their 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. broadcasts live.

The event Be Loud and Proud for Littlefield began with the live 6 p.m. broadcast of news from the studio and the location unit. Karin McKay and Abner Euresti then took their viewing audience on a tour of Littlefield.

The tour included video footage highlighted businesses such as the new Continental Dairy processing plant, and announcing a new sheet metal business planning to move to Littlefield in the future and a new CDL licensing training school which will be located downtown.

Long time businesses were also featured in the videos including Mike’s Jerky Place, Waymore’s and an especially poignant story of Kip Cutshall and Chisholm Floral which is closing it’s doors after 85 years. They also featured plans for the Littlefield Independent School District, which will create a school system for the future for Littlefield students.

Pete Christy invited Bailey Jones, a LHS alumni, to repeat her signing with the new Wayland Baptist University Softball program to celebrate being back among friends and family in Littlefield with a brief interview afterward.

Following the first broadcast Littlefield Mayor Eric Turpen welcomed everyone and expressed appreciation to KCBD and the sponsors for the event. Following his brief speech Mayor Turpen offered a prayer for the event.

Hot dogs and ice cream was then served to all attending. Acoustic guitar artist Junior Vasquez performed during the break between broadcasts.

Sponsors for the event included Blue Bell Ice Cream who served free ice cream to attendees, Bolton Oil, Head Start, Blue Sky Plumbing presented Junior Vasquez in concert between broadcasts, First Bank and Trust who cooked hot dogs for everyone, South Plains Community Action, and Covenant Health among others that were not present.
