The Lamb County Commissioner’s Court met Monday, June 27 at the Lamb County Courthouse to discuss the business of the county.
Lamb County Judge Mike DeLoach gave the invocation and led the United States Pledge and the Texas Pledge before calling the meeting to order.
There was nobody present for public comment.
The Consent Agenda items include:
Consider and take appropriate action on minutes from the previous meeting, which took place on June 13, 2022;
Consider and take appropriate action on budget and salary amendments and/or line-item transfers; which there were none;
Consider and take appropriate action on bills presented by County Auditor, Gina Jones. Bills totaled $141,404.64;
Consider and take appropriate action on payroll. Lamb County payroll ended on June 17, 2022, in the amount of $146,004.54 and for LHC payroll ended on June 18, 2022, in the amount of $178,116.35;
Consider and take appropriate action on departmental reports, which was presented to the commissioners in their packet;
Consider and take appropriate action on Tax Deed (R20627) and (19665). The motion was made my Commissioner Danny Short and seconded by Commissioner Cory
DeBerry. The motion carried.
Item four was to consider and take appropriate action on Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Audit. However, the auditor and the external auditors were not present at the time. The court took no action on it.
Item five was to consider and take appropriate action on purchase of a copier for the District Attorney’s office. The District Attorney’s office found a copier through Tascosa which will provide them a cheaper and better quality service than their current copier company. The District Attorney’s office emphasized they have enough in their budget to cover the cost of the new copier and would not be asking the county for help to purchase it, but they would need the approval of the purchase from the county. Commissioner Lee Logan set the motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis. The motion carried.
Item six was to consider and take appropriate action on Reimbursement for meal expenses incurred during Surplus Auction. The amount is about $70 and Judge Mike DeLoach recommended to approve the amount. The motion was set by Commissioner Kent Lewis which was seconded by Commissioner Danny Short. The motion was carried.
Item seven was to consider and take appropriate action on sales questions for Data & Imaging Conversions to Tyler Technologies. Tyler Technologies helped integrate the images and indexes onto flash drives for the County Clerk. Tyler Technologies is charging $1,500 to upload that information online. The County Clerk’s office has enough in the budget to pay for the bill, they just need the approval of the court. Motion set by Commissioner Cory DeBerry and seconded by Commissioner Lee Logan. The motion carried.
The next item was to discuss Lamb Healthcare Center operations. Cindy Klein, CEO, went over the financial statement for LHC. Total AP was high because they have another payment of about $300,000 for new construction. The total revenue was $2,549,327, under from last year. Salaries and wages are $22,327, because they have had an increase in individual’s salaries. Pharmaceuticals are $268,895, which is down from last year, because they are not using as many COVID-19 medications. Linen costs are $14,081, an increase from last year, because prices went up and they are currently looking for a new company. Purchase services are $963,119, which are down from last year, due to SleepTek and less COVID patients. Equipment rental is under at $61,006, because of SleepTek. Repair and maintenance are $19,430, which is down from last year, because of new equipment. Physician reimbursement is $138,794, which are under due to COVID visits. The total operating expenses are $1,275,940, which is down from last year, because of SleepTek and COVID visits.
Judge DeLoach discussed some future agenda items, which included potentially bringing in a solar farm, a potential burn ban and starting Monday, July 11, moving the meetings up to 9 a.m. every Monday. During this time, Commissioner Cory DeBerry wanted to give special thank yous to those that helped during the garage sale.
With there being no further business to come before the Commissioners Court, motion was made by Commissioner Lee Logan and seconded by Commissioner Kent Lewis to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 10:49 a.m.
