Sudan cross country teams compete at Smyer

The Sudan Hornets Cross country teams competed at Smyer this past Saturday. “I believe this was our best meet so far,” Head Coach Lacee Logan said. “We had many kids improve their times and we had some top finishers.”

Bulldogs looking to make it three in a row against Whiteface

The Amherst Bulldogs’ varsity football team picked up their second win of the season on Friday as they went on the road and took down Hart, 49-22. The victory improves the Bulldogs to 2-1 overall on the year.

Lady Cats come up short agaiiinst Lamesa

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team fell to the Lamesa Golden Tornados on Tuesday in straight sets.

The loss drops them to 1-16 overall on the season.

In set one, the Lady Cats were neck and neck with Lamesa. The Golden Tornados scored a kill and on the next exchange, Daneesha Ortiz scored a kill through the block attempt of junior, Ari Villafranco and senior, Jessica Hagopoylos, making the score, 6-8.

The teams exchanged points, before a kill attempt on the return by junior, Genasis Garza, off of the serve by Camren Clement sailed out of bounds, making the score, 7-9.

The Golden Tornados would go on a, 4-0, scoring run, before Yari Lopez had her hit blocked by sophomore, Nautica Espinosa for a Littlefield point, making the score, 8-13.

Lady Wolverines finish 9th at Mae Simmons meet

The Springlake-Earth varsity cross country teams competed at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock this past Saturday.

The Lady Wolverines finished ninth overall on Saturday, with Jaden DeLeon and Brytnn Nutt leading the way finishing 19th and 20th, respectively with times of 13:40.27 and 13:40.91.

Fiiilliiies fall short agaiiinst Memphiiis

The Olton Fillies’ varsity volleyball team pushed to four sets on Saturday against Memphis, but fell short in their comeback efforts, 1-3.

The loss drops them to, 3-12 overall, 0-2 in district play on the season.

Early in set one, Memphis took advantage of some Olton mistakes, jumping out to a, 0-2 lead.

Lady Cats open Cross Country season at Plainview

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity cross country team competed at Plainview last weekend in their first competitive meet of the season.

The results are as follows:

Courtney Reed came in 64th overall with a time of 15:24.4, while Trinity Ayala finished 90th with a time of 15:58.0 and Brittney Smith finished 97th overall with a time of 16:09.1.

The Littlefield varsity cross country team was in Lubbock on Saturday competing at Mae Simmons Park. Results were not available at press time.

They are open next Saturday, Sept. 16th, but will resume their season on the 23rd, when they compete at the Lubbock Invitational at Mae Simmons Park.

Olton Fillies out-duel Southcrest Christian, 3-2

The Olton Fillies’ varsity volleyball team took their non-district match-up with Southcrest Christian last Saturday, 3-2. The Fillies took the first two sets, 25-13 and 26-24, but Southcrest Christian didn’t go down without a fight as they took sets three and four, 21-25 and 13-25. In a fifth set to 15, the Fillies prevailed, 15-9 to take the match.

Lady Cats come up short against River Road

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team dropped a tough match to the River Road Lady Cats on Saturday, 2-3. The loss drops Littlefield to 1- 14 overall on the season.

The teams split the first two sets of the match with Littlefield taking the first set and River Road taking the second set. In set three, sophomore, Nautica Espinosa, was blocked by Taylor Francis for a River Road Point. Jenna Downs served up an ace before serving the ball into the net to make the score, 1-2.

Lady Cats fall to Estacado in five

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team dropped a close match, that went five sets to the Estacado Lady Matadors, 3-2.

With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 1-13 overall on the season.

Coming off of back-to-back losses in sets two in three, the Lady Cats came out strong in set four.

Senior, Jessica Hagopoylos, sent the opening serve over the net; it was returned by Estacado, before being hit into the net by junior, Sterling Martinez giving the Lady Matadors a, 0-1 lead.
