Littlefield runs at regional meet in Odessa

Littlefield Lady Cat Ashley Dendy punched her ticket to the state track and field meet in Austin in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles at the recent regional meet held in Odessa.

Littlefield’s Ashley Dendy and Kaylee Edgemon are both headed to Austin for the state track meet, after competing in the Region 1-2A track and field meet Friday and Saturday in Odessa at Ratliff Stadium. The state track and field meet will take place Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th at Mike A. Myers Stadium, located on the campus of the University of Texas.

Preliminaries were held Friday, and the finals were held Saturday. A complete wrap-up of the regional track and field meet will be in next Wednesday’s issue of the Lamb County Leader-News.

Wildcat golf team ends season at regional meet

The Littlefield Golf team recently competed in the regional golf meet held in Odessa at the Ratliff Ranch Golf Links. The Wildcats finished 14th with a total score of 788 as a team. The Wildcats shot 390 on day one and a 398 on day two. Shown are: (in no particular order) Coach Zach Duncan, Chris Duran, Seth Clayton, Dylan Brown, Koby Trotter and Alex McCrary.

The Littlefield Golf team competed at the regional golf meet last Monday and Tuesday in Odessa at the Ratliff Ranch Golf Links. The Wildcats placed 14th at the meet. Seth Clayton finished 36th after shooting a 176. Clayton shot a 91 the first day and an 85 the second day.

Wildcats blank Abernathy, 10-0

Littlefield Wildcat Dakota Gage tosses a pitch during Saturday’s 7-3 win over Dimmitt in district action. The Wildcats continued their season Monday night with a 10-0 win over district champion Abernathy.

Littlefield closed out their district season with a 10-0 win over district champion Abernathy Monday night on the road. The Wildcats moved to 8-11 overall and 6-4 in district play with the win.

Muleshoe Mules kick Littlefield, 5-2

Littlfield Wildcat Nate Herrea pitched all seven innings in the Wildcats’ 5-2 loss to the Mules Thursday night on the road. Herrera and his teammates continued their season Saturday at home against Dimmitt.

The Littlefield Wildcats dropped to third place in district with two games to go after a 5-2 loss to Muleshoe Thursday night on the road. Errors plagued the Wildcats throughout the game. Littlefield finished the game with six errors. Nacho Elizalde was on the mound for the Mules. The Wildcats began the game with three straight pop-ups from Reese Rogers, Seth Clayton and Bryson Calaway.

Sudan Hornets win area track meet; Nettes finish second

For the third straight year, the Sudan Hornets took the area track and field championship held in Sundown. The Hornets finshed with 159 total points. Forsan was a distant second with 77 points. Smyer came in third with 70 points, and Bovina finished in fourth with 66 points.

DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

The Littlefield Lady Cat track and field team won the district championship while competing in last Friday’s district meet at Dimmitt. Littlefield Track Coach Justin Barton said he wasn’t sure when the last time the Littlefield girls track team won the district championship.

Sudan and Springlake-Earth have area meet Thursday

Littlefield Lady Cat Kaleigh Edgemon tosses the shot put during last Friday’s district track meet at Dimmitt. Edgemon placed sixth in the shot put, but won first in the discus with a toss of 112’03’’.

Sudan and Springlake-Earth track and field teams will continue their season this Thursday in Sundown at the District 5-1A Area Meet. Competing with them will be Morton, Bovina and Farwell. Schools from Disrtict 6-1A that include Forsan, Plains, Seagraves, Smyer, Sundown and Tahoka will also be competing at the meet.

AREA RUNNER

The Amherst Bulldog Track and Field team finished as area runner-ups in last Friday’s area track meet held at Abernathy. The Bulldogs will now take part in the regional meet being held April 25th and 26th at South Plains College in Levelland.
