Wildcat Classic tips-off Monday

Beginning Monday, Littlefield will host their annual Wildcat Classic basketball tournament. The three-day tournament that takes place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, includes 14 teams in the girl’s bracket, and 11 teams in the boy’s bracket. Teams in the girls’ bracket include: Tatum, Morton, Lamesa, Denver City, Wellington, Snyder, Smyer, Andrews, Merkel, Memphis, Abernathy, Post, Happy, and Littlefield.

Slaton Tigerettes hold off Lady Cats, 62-57

Littlefield didn’t start Friday’s game against Slaton how they would’ve hoped, but they never stopped fighting. Slaton was able to escape Wildcat Gym with 62-57 over the Lady Cats, but early on, it didn’t seem like it would be that close. The Tigerettes clawed their way out to a 13-1 lead early in the first quarter. Missed shots and turnovers had Littlefield trailing big, but they kept their cool and continued to play their game. Kaylee Edgemon scored her team’s first field goal

Idalou Lady Cats beat Littlefield, 52-34

Littlefield Coach Kendall Webb said Tuesday night’s game against Idalou would be used sort of as a measuring stick to see where his Lady Cats are right now. Littlefield entered the game with an 8-4 overall record, and coming off a tournament championship win in the Dimmitt Tournament. It was a hard-fought game, but Idalou was too much as they beat the Lady Cats, 52-34. Idalou, who entered the game ranked 14th in the latest TABC State Rankings, had three players finish in double figures with Mackenzie Gregory leading the way with 15 points. Rachel Bahn scored 14 points and Sydney Craig had 11.

Lady Cats win Dimmitt Basketball Tournament Championship

The Littlefield Lady Cats capped off their play in the Dimmitt Tournament with a 42-36 win over the Bobcats this past Saturday. “I didn’t think we played as well as we were capable of, they did some things to us that we will have to make adjustments to,” said Coach Kendall Webb.

Littlefield Wildcats compete in Dimmitt Basketball Tournament

After a tough start to the Dimmitt tournament against Bushland last week, the Littlefield Wildcats beat Amarillo High JV and Vega to finish 2-1 in tourney play. Littlefield beat Amarillo High JV, 52-51. They beat Vega, 58- 37. “We beat Amarillo High JV by one point, and we were actually up on them by 15 at one point,” said Littlefield Head Coach Clint Conkin. “Dakota Gage played really well for us against Amarillo, and finished with 22 points and eight rebounds. He also had one assist.”

Carroll scores 23; Lady Cats beat Plainview JV

Caitlyn Carroll led the way with 23 points, and the Littlefield Lady Cats started their play in the Dimmitt Basketball Tournament with a 60-38 win over Plainview JV. Carroll scored 16 of those 23 points in the first half. Kaylee Edgemon added 19 points to also finished in double figures. The Lady Cats took on Sundown Thursday evening in continuing tournament play. Plainview JV jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead.

Bushland beats Littlefield Wildcats, 64-32

It wasn’t the kind of start Littlefield hoped for against Bushland Thursday morning in the Dimmitt Basketball Tournament. The Wildcats struggled from the get-go, and the Falcons cruised to an easy 64-32 win. Bushland had three players finish in double figures against Littlefield. Noah Moore and Bayler Boydston both had 15 points, while Teagan Shelton had 12 points. J’Shun Davis and Abrahm Lucero led the Wildcats with 10 points each.

JV TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

JV TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS – The Littlefield Wildcat Junior Varsity team won the Denver City Basketbell Tourney Championship with a 53-47 win over Andrews on Saturday. They defeated Denver City in their opening game of the tournament, 52-16

Lady Cats take part in Shallowater Shootout

The Littlefield Lady Cats played in two games Thursday in the Shallowater Shootout. Littlefield took on Seminole in their early game, and lost to the Indians 61-42. Later that afternoon, Littlefield took on Olton and beat the Fillies, 51-46. Play resumed Saturday, with Littlefield taking on Lubbock Christian High School.
