Lady Cats come up short against River Road

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team dropped a tough match to the River Road Lady Cats on Saturday, 2-3. The loss drops Littlefield to 1- 14 overall on the season.

The teams split the first two sets of the match with Littlefield taking the first set and River Road taking the second set. In set three, sophomore, Nautica Espinosa, was blocked by Taylor Francis for a River Road Point. Jenna Downs served up an ace before serving the ball into the net to make the score, 1-2.

Lady Cats fall to Estacado in five

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team dropped a close match, that went five sets to the Estacado Lady Matadors, 3-2.

With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 1-13 overall on the season.

Coming off of back-to-back losses in sets two in three, the Lady Cats came out strong in set four.

Senior, Jessica Hagopoylos, sent the opening serve over the net; it was returned by Estacado, before being hit into the net by junior, Sterling Martinez giving the Lady Matadors a, 0-1 lead.

Wildcats hoping to contain Harvesters spread offense

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity football team will make the trip to Pampa on Friday as they kick-off their season against the Harvesters.

“I think last week we were a little lackadaisical in practice and I think it had a lot to do with the first week of school, but our focus coming in today [Monday] is that we have to get back to work,” Head Coach Brent Green said. “We have to really learn what Pampa is doing today [Monday] and then go to work hard on it tomorrow [Tuesday] and polish it up on Wednesday.”

S-E cross country teams competed at Canyon

The Springlake-Earth Cross Country teams competed at the Canyon six-mile Relay this past Saturday.

The Wolverines and Lady Wolverines competed against teams from 1A-6A.

The high school boys’ team of Cesar Amador, Diego Sanchez, Rolando Arenas and Joe Matthew Cruz placed third out of 15 teams.

The high school girls’ team of Amber Velincia, Kaycee Clark, Jaden DeLeon, Brytnn Nutt, Hannah Crandall and Haley Krutzsch placed seventh out of 20 teams at the event.

Lady Cats fall to Titans, 3-0

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity volleyball team fell to the Lubbock Titans on Tuesday in straight sets, 3-0. With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 1-12 overall on the season. In set one, the Lady Cats got out in front as senior, Jessica Hagopoylos’ hit was returned out of bounds by Marin Malone, making the score, 1-0.

The Titans quickly tied things up off of the serve from junior, Sterling Martinez, and went on to take a, 1-4 lead, after Martinez hit a ball out of bounds.

Annual football contest starts this weekend

The annual Lamb County Leader- News football contest is a mere six days away from the first week of the contest..

The first week of the contest will include 10 high school football games and 10 college football games.

This year, I will try to stay more in this area for high school games and avoid games between teams from Texas, who travel out of state to play national games.
