Isaiah Montes takes first at Abernathy Meet

The Sudan Powerlifting team competed in their first meet of the year at Abernathy this past Saturday.

“The first meet of the year always has a few hiccups but I thought our guys handled them well and competed in a manner that we can all be proud of,” Head Coach Erik Edwards.

Isaiah Montes took first place out of seven lifters in the 275 lb class lifting a total of 1,205 lbs.

Adrian Sital placed seventh out of 11 lifters in the 220 lb class lifting a total of 795 lbs and Tyler Moeller placed seventh out of eight lifters in the 242 lb class with a lifting total of 705 lbs.

Lady Cats rally past the lady mules, 44-40

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team used a second-quarter surge to rally past the Muleshoe Lady Mules on Tuesday, 44-40. With the win, the Lady Cats snap a five-game losing streak, looking to make a play-off push through this second-half of district play. They are 6-17 overall, 2-6 in district play.

 

In the fourth quarter, after a Littlefield time out, Keely Dunham was fouled on a mid-ranger jumper attempt by Trinity Ayala with 3.9 seconds to play in the game. She sank both free throws, cutting the Littlefield lead to two points, 42-40, as the Lady Mules called a time out

Lady Cats ROUTED BY iDALOU, 67-20

The Littlefield Lady Cats continued district play on the road Friday night with a, 67-20, loss to state-ranked Idalou. Idalou flexed their muscle early and jumped out to a fast, 13-0 lead.

 

During their run, Littlefield turned the ball over seven times. Littlefield actually finished the game with more turnovers, 22, than points, 20.

Wildcats win OT thriller at Idalou, 62-59

They needed overtime, but Littlefield managed to get back on track with a district win at Idalou Friday night, 62-59.

 

The game was tied, 58-58, at the end of the fourth quarter. A huge defensive play by Jayden Longoria stopped Idalou from possibly making the game-winning shot as time was winding down. Idalou had one more chance with 1.8 second left on the clock, but couldn’t get the shot off. The teams traded possessions early on in OT.

 

Andrew Valdez couldn’t connect on a three-point shot, and Idalou drew a foul on the next possession. Chris Douglas was fouled, but missed the first shot of the onein- one.

Anton Bulldogs stomp Cotton Center, 66-18

The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity basketball team downed Cotton Center on Tuesday, 66-18, to stay unbeaten in district play.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 13-7 overall, 3-0 in district play.

The Bulldogs outscored Cotton Center, 19-6, in the first quarter, including six points from Carlos Rios.

Wildcats hold off Eagles, 66-51

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team bested the Roosevelt Eagles on Tuesday, 66- 51.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 9-12 overall, 3-1 in district play.

Daniel Stinson delivered a pass through traffic to J’Shun Davis for a lay-up for the first points of the opening quarter.

WILDCATS COME UP SHORT AGAINST MUSTANGS, 45-33

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity basketball team lost a tight contest to the Mustangs in Shallowater on Friday, 45-33.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 8-12 overall, 2-1 in district play.

The Wildcats came out of the gates strong as Daniel Stinson grabbed a steal and took it the other way for a fast-break lay-up to open the first quarter.

Collin Stephenson responded with a jumper from the left elbow to tie the game, 2-2, and with just over six minutes remaining in the opening quarter, Jett Johnston was fouled on an attempt by J’Shun Davis.

Lady Cats fall to Fillies in Shallowater, 57-17

The Littlefield Lady Cats’ varsity basketball team fell to the Fillies in Shallowater on Friday, 57-17.

With the loss, the Lady Cats fall to 5-15 overall, 1-4 in district play.

In the first quarter, the Fillies got out to a, 6-0 lead as Jordyn Aragon picked up a steal and was fouled on a fast break attempt by Geyah Garza. She made both free throws and Cailyn Breckel followed it up with a lay-up in the lane, making the score, 4-0.
