Wolverines make history with Bi-district victory

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines’ varsity baseball team captured their first play-off victory in program history on Friday night when they downed the O’Donnell Eagles, 12- 6 in New Deal to claim the 1A Bidistrict trophy. “I’m just super proud of my boys for not giving up,” Head Coach DJ Atwood said.

Kaitlyn Clardy competing at State Track Meet

Anton sophomore, Kaitlyn Clardy, will be representing her town in school in Austin this weekend at the State track meet. “She has been really coachable, this is her first year doing hurdles and Coach Potts has been working with her,”

Coach Dusty Grantham said. “It’s a hard concept, but she has worked through it and has been really coachable in that aspect and she has had a lot of success with it.” He added, “She has matured a lot as opposed to last year, she was very much a freshman, so you can see a year of growth, but she has done really well.” Clardy went to state last year as a freshman as part of the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams.

Treg Box to play in State golf Tournament

Treg Box is Heading to Austin on May 22nd and 23rd to represent the Sudan Hornets’ golf team at the State Tournament.

Box finished Round two on Tuesday at the Regional Tournament for a total of 159, which placed him in second place overall.

State qualifiers humbled, they will represent Springlake-Earth in Austin

Springlake-Earth High School will be represented by six athletes when they travel to Austin next week for the State track meet.

“It’s exciting, the school is excited, the kids are excited, the parents, everyone is looking forward to it,” Head girls track coach, Matt Clark said. “We haven’t had this many kids go in a while, so it is a big deal.”

Kaitlyn Clardy heading to State meet in long jump and triple jump

Kaitlyn Clardy is heading to the State Track Meet in Austin, as she will be representing the Anton Lady Dogs in both the long jump and triple jump.

The Lady Dogs finished 10th overall at the 1A Regional track meet, which was held at South Plains College April 28th and 29th, totaling 30 points, while the Bulldogs finished 20th overall with six points.

Springlake-Earth sending five athletes to State track meet

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines and Lady Wolverines’ track teams are sending five athletes to the State Track Meet in Austin.

The Wolverines placed fourth overall at the 1A Regional track meet, which was held at South Plains College April 28th and 29th, totaling 47 points, while the Lady Wolverines placed sixth overall with 36 points.

Wildcats fall short in regular season finalee against Mustangs

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity baseball team fell short in their comeback efforts Tuesday night as they dropped their final regular season game on the road to the Mustangs, 13-7.

The Wildcats closed out the regular season 10-12 overall, 7-3 in district play.

Senior, John Castillo, started the game on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching one and 2/3 innings; he gave up five runs and one walk. Sophomore, Colton Campbell, pitched three innings, earning one strikeout, while giving up five runs and five walks.

Seniors, Taner McNabb and Bradley Reed, each pitched 2/3 of an inning to close out the game. McNabb gave up three runs and two walks, while Reed earned one strikeout and gave up two walks.

Olton Mustangs fall to Hale Center on senior night, 12-3

The Olton Mustangs’ varsity baseball team’s season came to an end Monday night on senior day as they fell to the Hale Center Owls, 12-3.

Freshman, Taytem Thetford, started on the mound for the Mustangs, pitching five innings. He gave up 11 runs and five walks, while earning two strikeouts. Sophomore, Jayden Leathers, closed out the game, pitching two innings. He earned four strikeouts, while giving up just one walk and one run.

Wildcats secure number two seed in playoffs

The Littlefield Wildcats’ varsity baseball team secured the number two seed in the 3A Playoffs with an, 8-5, victory over Idalou on the road on Saturday.

The victory pushed the Wildcats to 10-11 overall, 7-2 in district play heading into their final game of the regular season on Tuesday at Shallowater.
