A new era is underway

By DEREK LOPEZ

Kansas native, Georgia Ann Tucker, is getting set to begin her first year as the head coach of the Olton Fillies’ volleyball team. Originally from Kansas, Tucker graduated from High school in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, before coming to Texas where she attended junior college in Snyder to play basketball before going to Wayland Baptist University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Last year, Tucker was an assistant for the high school volleyball, girls’ basketball and track teams.

“Olton has been my only school to coach,” she explained. “While I was at Wayland, I got injured while playing basketball and finished the season as an assistant/ manager type, so I got to see [what it was like] from that point of view for a while.” Tucker said that the job opportunity is what brought her to Olton.
