GERARDO ROMERO

 

Gerardo Romero, 62, of Earth, died Saturday, March 31, 2018, in Lubbock. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, April 5, 2018, at Iglesia Del Pueblo in Earth with Pastor Angie Castillo officiating. Interment followed at Earth Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Juan Gerardo Romero was born Dec. 27, 1955, in Durango, Mexico, to Atanacio and Maria Romero. He married Maria Guerro in 1975, in Juarez, Mexico. Gerardo moved to Earth in 2000 and attended Iglesia Del Pueblo. He enjoyed working and his trips to Muleshoe and Plainview to eat. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, in 1997; his parents; a son, Luis Romero; a brother, Manuel Resendez; and a sister, Jovita Romero. urvivors include three daughters, Gracie Romero of El Paso, Marisela Romero and Claudia Romero, both of Juarez; two sisters, Teresa Reyes and Lydia Resendez, both of Earth; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews

JOEL RODRIQUEZ

Joel Rodriquez, 48, of Lubbock and a native of Littlefield, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at UMC in Lubbock. Services were held Friday morning, April 6, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene in Lubbock. Burial followed in Littlefield Memorial Park, with Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory in charge of arrangements. Joel was born Oct. 6, 1969 to Pedro and Inez (Briones) Rodriquez in Littlefield. Joel married Melissa (Munoz) Rodriquez in December of 1994. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lubbock. He is preceded in death by his father; and one niece, Marisela E. Rodriquez. Survivors include his wife, Melissa; two sons, Oliver Kane Rodriquez and Ivan Ashby Rodriquez; his mother, Inez Rodriquez; two brothers, Pedro Rodriquez, Jr.

GREGORIA DeLEON

Gregoria DeLeon, 78, of Earth, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, in Earth. Services were held Tuesday morning, April 3, 2018, at Iglesia Del Pueblo in Earth with Pastor Juan DeLaGarza officiating. Interment followed at Earth Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Gregoria was born May 25, 1939, in Dobrowolski, TX, to Juan and Lucia (Garcia) Samarron. She married Armando DeLeon, Sr. on Oct. 5, 1955, in Clovis, NM. She was a member of Iglesia Del Pueblo. She was a caretaker to many people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armando DeLeon, Sr; son, Raul DeLeon; three grandsons, Eli, Gabriel, and Romy; one great-grandson, Josiah; and six brothers. Survivors include six sons: Armando DeLeon, Jr.

ANGEL DRAY ULLOA

Angel Dray Dominic Ulloa, 18, of Littlefield, DIED Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Littlefield. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Grace Chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home of Littlefield, with Tanner Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Littlefield. Prayer services were held at 6 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. He was born Feb. 19, 2000 in Littlefield to Billy Ulloa and Mary Angela Martinez. Angel loved the outdoors, including fishing and going to the lake. He liked playing video games, and watching Netflix.

RITA WAGNER

Rita Wagner, 99, of Amherst, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Amherst. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield with Bryson Holley and Odell Farr officiating. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born June 18, 1918 in Willow, OK to Eldridge and Laura Clark. Rita married Marvin Wagner April 15, 1938 in Clovis, NM. Rita and Marvin owned and operated Wagner’s Grocery Store in Amherst for many years. She was a hard worker and could often be found tending to her yard or her garden. Rita was a member of the sewing club and the garden club. Rita was a member of the Amherst Church of Christ, and later attended Crescent Park Church of Christ with her daughter.

Lester Jack Pollard, Jr.

Lester  Jack  Pollard,  Jr.  aka “Buffalo”  passed  away  Mon- day, March 19, 2018, at his home in Littlefield, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life was to be helded Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Sudan Community Center, 111 E. 1st Ave, Sudan, TX at 2 p.m. A potluck dinner was held afterwards.  Cremation ar- rangements under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas. Lester was born on April 18, 1952 to Lester Jack Pollard, Sr. and Wanda June Sharp in Deming, New Mexico. He was married to the love of his life, Kathy Diane Pollard, for 45 years and resided in Littlefield. Lester was a former truck driver traveling all over the United States. Lester was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite TV show Heartland. He also really loved spending time with his family, his horses and chickens, and his dogs. Lester will be remembered for his enormous heart and giving spirit.

MAX CORTEZ

Church service for Max Cortez Jr. age 67, of Earth, Texas is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2018 at Church of The Town, in Earth with Paul Ramon of Earth officiating. Max died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Lubbock. He was born Nov. 9, 1950 to Maximno and Lilly Martinez Cortez, Sr. Max moved to Earth in 2016 from Amarillo, Texas. He was a building contractor. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Cortez and Pauline Cortez; four brothers, Buddy Cortez, Sr., Pete Cortez, Johnny Sylvester Cortez and Max Cortez. Maz is survived by one son, Max Cortez, III of San Marcus, Texas; three sisters, Ester Hernandez of Weslaco, Texas, Mercedes Nieto of Earth, and Pomposa Ramirez of San Benido, Texas; one brother, Joe Cortez of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Zaybriel Cortez and Kayla Worth. JACKIE MOUNT

Jackie Wyvonne Mount passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life of 80 years on Friday morning, March 23, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with burial following in Littlefield Memorial Park. Wyvonne was born on Sept. 1, 1937 to the late Claude and Lucille (Priddy) Cook on the family farm in Lamb County. She graduated from Sudan High School. Wyvonne retired from Lubbock ISD and was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and crafts of all kinds. Wyvonne is survived by her daughter, Melinda Elliott and husband, Greg of Hardesty, OK; son, Jeff Mount and wife, Melody of Livingston, MT; grandchildren, Dustin Scheller and wife, Elizabeth; Jacob Scheller, Jessica Konley and husband, Scott; Sara Rogers, Kayla Mount; great-grandsons, Reed Konley and Riley Rogers, brother, R.J. Cook and wife, Nell of Amherst; sister, Claudine Feagley of Portales, NM; and sister-in-law, Rita Wright of Lubbock.
