WINIFRED WILLIE DYKES

Graveside service for Winifred Willie Dykes, 99, of Amherst, who died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 in Amherst, was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov.3, 2017, in the Sudan Cemetery, with Elder James Baker of Amarillo, officiating. Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan was in charge of arrangements. Winifred was born July 6, 1918, in Quitique, to B.K. and Lena “McBride” Hamilton. She married Hubert W. Dykes in Littlefield on Dec. 19, 1936. Winifred was a “Forever” Sudan resident for more than 70 years. She lived in Amarillo from 2003 until 2010. Winifred was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Borger. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; her parents; her sister, Bertha Hestland; her brother, J.T. Hamilton; and two halfbrothers, Harvey Hamilton and Kenneth Hamilton. Survivors include her two sons, Donald Dykes and his wife, Anita of Amarillo, and Scotty Dykes of Jacksonville, Florida; her halfsister, Margaret Meeks of Ft. Worth; her half-brothers, Jerry Hamilton of Weatherford, and J.W.

INEZ OGLETREE

Inez Ogletree, 98, of Olton, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, in Lubbock. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017. Inez was born June 5, 1919, in Cloud Chief, OK, to William and Alethia (Fennell) Hackler. She moved to the Olton area in 1929. On April 20, 1937, Inez married William Malcolm Ogletree in Clovis, NM. She was a homemaker and long-time cook for the Olton Lion’s Club. A member of the First Baptist Church, Inez loved to crochet and was a talented cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1988; a son, Darrell Ogletree, in 2009; and twelve brothers and sisters.

Lola Walker, 86, of Lubbock died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017. Services were held today at the Littlefield Memorial Park. Services were provided by Agape Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Lubbock.

ELROY D. SIMNACHER

Elroy D. Simnacher, of Lubbock, formerly of Pep, Texas died Oct. 12, 2017. Funeral services were held, Oct. 16, at 11 am at Christ the King Cathedral. Interment followed in Pep. Services were under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park Elroy was born Jan. 8, 1934 in Littlefield, to Philip and Delila Downs Simnacher. He graduated from Pep High School and then from Texas Tech University. He married Patricia Verkamp. Elroy received his commission as a 2nd Lt in the US Air Force through the ROTC program at Texas Tech University. He entered the pilot training program and received his Aeronautical rating of pilot at Reese Air Force Base class of ’57. He then was assigned to teach student pilots at the Instructor School at Goodfellow Air Force Base San Angelo. He was then sent to James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas to fly students in the navigator training program in T 33 air crafts as well as the C 119. Following military service he attended St.

BONNIE PATRICK

Bonnie Patrick, 96, of Littlefield, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 in Littlefield. Graveside services were to be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at Plainview Cemetery in Plainview, with arrangements under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born Dec. 10, 1920 in Socorro, N.M. to Barney and Nora Beeman. Bonnie married Morris Patrick on Dec. 26, 1939 in Socorro. She was an excellent cook, and loved to crochet. She made afghans and crocheted gifts for her family and friends. Bonnie worked for the Lubbock County Auditor’s office for over 20 years, before she retired. She was a member of Trinity Church in Littlefield. Bonnie is survived by her son, Jim Patrick and wife, Patricia, of Littlefield; a daughter, Barbara Tiley and husband, Bill of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan.

DAVID NOAH PEREZ

David Noah (Rambo) Perez, 55, of Lubbock and formerly of Olton, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, in Lubbock. Funeral services were held Monday morning, Oct. 9, 2017, at the First Assembly of God Church in Olton with Mr. Ted Teeter and Mr. Danny Berlanga officiating. Interment followed at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. David was born in Muleshoe, on April 8, 1962, to Vicente and Olga (Berlanga) Perez. He graduated from Olton High School in 1980. Shortly after high school, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was proud to serve his country. A self contractor for many years, David enjoyed sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, loved his animals, cooking, reading, and his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente Perez; his grandparents, Ramon and Leanor Berlanga; grandmother, Thomasa Perez; and his sister, Christi Perez.

KAYLA M. DURHAM

Kayla Mashelle Durham, 38, of Lubbock, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 in Lubbock. She was born Feb. 23, 1979 in Plainview to Larry and Donna Durham. Kayla was born and raised in Lubbock, and graduated from Coronado High School with the Class of 1997. She liked going to the mountains, fishing, and all sports. Kayla attended Redbud Baptist Church in Lubbock. Kayla is survived by the love of her life for 18 years, Marcus Smith of Lubbock; three sons, Jordan Lacy, Jayden Durham and Ja’Marcus Smith, all of Lubbock; a daughter, Ja’Layia Smith of Lubbock; her dad, Larry Durham and wife, Geneva of Lubbock; two brothers, Michael Durham and wife, Heidi of Shallowater, and Randy Durham and wife, Meredith of Cove; two step-brothers, Todd Turzer of Crawley, and Eric Turzer of Lubbock; grandmother, Jewel Durham of Littlefield; three nieces, one nephew; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members.
