VELVIE MAE BERRY

Velvie Mae Berry, 89, of Amherst, died March 6, 2018 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Amherst, Texas. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst. Arrangements under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas. Velvie married James E. Berry on March 22, 1949 in Amherst. She is survived by four sons, Darrell Berry of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Bob Berry of Cashion, Texas, James B. Berry of Victoria, Texas and Dale Berry of Nocona, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters. Velvie is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Floyd and Ora Mae VanDoern and two sisters.

RICARDO HINOJOSA

Ricardo Hinojosa, Jr., 54, of Spade and formerly of Levelland, died Monday, March 5, 2018 in Lubbock. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Levelland, with Head Duarate Funeral Home and staff directing arrangements. Viewing and Rosary were held Thursday night, March 8, 2018 in Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel of Levelland.

YVONNE LEWIS

Yvonne Lewis, 82, of Olton, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Lubbock. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother David Azam officiating. Interment followed in Olton Cemetery, with Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton directing arrangements. Yvonne was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Paducah, to Tom and Opal (Roberts) Henderson. Losing her mom at a young age, Yvonne’s father married Alene Markum and together they raised Yvonne. On June 6, 1954, Yvonne married Elmer Lewis, in Sudan. She was involved in the First Baptist Church, sang in the church choir for over 40 years, volunteered in the church library, and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She was a talented seamstress. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Opal Henderson, and her step-mother, Alene Henderson.

PEDRO PETE LONGORIA

Pedro “Pete” Longoria, Sr., 64, of Littlefield, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in Lubbock. Funeral mass was held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield. Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park, with arrangements under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. He was born Aug. 8, 1953 in Lubbock to Ysabel and Juanita Longoria. Pete worked for the City of Littlefield as an animal control officer. He was a Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Hacholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo and barbecuing with friends and family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister.

DON RANDOLPH

Church service for Don Randolph, 80, of Earth, who died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Lubbock, was held Friday afternoon, March 9, at First United Methodist Church in Earth, with Gil Ramirez of Sundown officiating. Burial was in Earth Memorial Cemetery, with Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth in charge of arrangements. Don was born June 21, 1937 in Truscott, Texas to Henry and Hazel (Glasscock) Randolph. He married Sunnye Kay Wyer in Dimmitt on Oct. 25, 1958. Don had lived in Earth all of his life, where he was a member of the Earth Roping Club, the Earth-Springlake Livestock Association, and on the Board of Earth Coop Gin. Don was also an avid craftsman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sunnye in 2004, and his parents.

STELLA HELMS

Stella Helms, 101, of Abernathy, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at her home. Services were held Monday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2018 at the Abernathy First Baptist Church with son-in-law, Teddy Teeter and Rev. Glenda West officiating. Burial followed in the Strip Pearce Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. She was born Aug. 19, 1916 in Hale County to William Irlo and Maggie Ella (Durham) Pierson. She graduated from the Lakeview School and married Audrey Doyle (A.D.) Helms, Nov. 3, 1947 in Plainview. They moved to Abernathy in 1955. She retired in 1975 from her employment with an insurance company. She was a Sunday school teacher and played the piano at the First Assembly of God. She is survived by a daughter; Louise Teeter and husband, Rev.

MARIE (JARNAGIN) WALKER

Marie Walker died Feb. 16, 2018, at the age of 84. Born on Feb. 20, 1933, in Daisy, OK to Walter Francis and Blanche (Richmond) Jarnagin. Marie graduated from Littlefield High School in May of 1950. Marie married, Jack Preston (J.P.) Walker on, Jan. 31, 1953, in Clovis, NM. They moved to Plainview. Marie was a homemaker, helped her husband farm and was an active part of her husband’s business, Walker Brothers Produce in Plainview. She also, was involved in teaching Sunday School at Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Jack Preston Walker; sons, Brian Carl Walker and Perry Walker; her parents; sisters, Alyine Lieske and Mattie Lee Wallance; brothers, Jack Jarnagin and Jimmy Jarnagin.

RALPH GEORGE

Funeral services for Ralph A. George were held at Highland Baptist Church on Friday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2018. Burial service took place immediately following at Resthaven Cemetery. Ralph died Feb, 17, 2018 in Lubbock at age 83. He was born in Littlefield to Roy Robert George and Ovie Lee Bates George. Ralph graduated from Bula High School and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Texas Tech. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the 1950s. He was a teacher and counselor for many years. He taught one year at Bula High School. The rest of his career was in L.I.S.D. He then became a high school counselor and served at Estacado High School until his retirement in 1996. Ralph was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He was proceeded in death by both parents and a sister, Anita Hall. Survivors include his wife, Donivee George; daughters: Christi Turner and husband, Dr.
