ALVA MARIE ROBERSON

Alva Marie Roberson, 96, of Lubbock, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017. Services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at Venue on Broadway with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, in Lubbock. Combest Family Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements. She was born Jan. 27, 1921 in Kirkland, Texas to R. W. and Mamie (Richeson) Wood. Alva graduated from Amherst High School and went on to attend Texas Tech University. She worked as a school teacher and basketball coach in Anton during World War II, and later as the librarian and secretary at Olton ISD. Alva was a member of Green Lawn Church of Christ in Lubbock. Alva was preceded in death by her husband, Lem Roberson; son, Jerry Roberson; and brother Thedis Wood.

CLIFFORD HOPPING

Clifford Hopping, 84 of Lubbock died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017. A visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, and a Celebration of Life service was held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Lubbock. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park. He was born March 2, 1933 in Littlefield, to Sydney Coke and Loraine (Pass) Hopping. Clifford graduated from Littlefield High School in 1949 where he was on the State Championship Football Team. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his discharge, he married Eva Fields on Jan. 23, 1955. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1958 with his degree in Industrial Psychology. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lubbock. He served as District Deputy of the Grand Lodge of Texas, was a Tennis USTA Certified referee and umpire, and had served on the Board of the Texas Tennis Association.

JEANNINE HINCHLIFFE

Church service for Jeannine “Jerry” Hinchliffe, 88, of Lubbock, and formerly of Earth, was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at Earth United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charlie Johnson of Seminole officiating. Burial was in the Earth Memorial Cemetery, with Parsons-Ellis Funeral Homne of Earth in charge of arrangements. Jerry died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 in Lubbock. She was born March 11, 1929 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Claibe andLula “Brannon” Applegate. She married Norman Hinchliffe in Hamilton, Texas on July 19, 1952. Jerry graduated from Hamilton High School in 1946, and was a member of the Hamilton National Honor Society. She worked in the County Clerk’s office in Hempstead, Texas; the ASCS office in Livingston; the Earth bank; Springlake-Earth Schools; and Earth Ag Supply. Jerry was a member of the Earth United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 2014; her parents; and two brothers, Bill Applegate and J.R. Applegate.

PATRICIA ANN ELKINS

Patricia “Pat” Ann Pierce Elkins, 84, of Olton, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, in Olton. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Olton with Brother Willis Blair and Brother David Azam officiating. Interment was in Center Plains Cemetery, with Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton directing arrangements. Pat was born Jan. 2, 1933, in Lamb County, to Clifford and Katherine (Yohner) Pierce. She grew up in Littlefield and graduated from Littlefield High School. On March 25, 1951, Pat married Gerald Elkins in Littlefield and they were married for more than 66 years. They lived in Halfway and Sunnyside before moving to Olton in 1995. She was a member of Sunnyside First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. Pat was a talented painter and seamstress. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Kelcey Elkins.

GENEVA E. NEWMAN

Church service for Geneva E. Newman, 76, of Sudan, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 in Lubbock, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at First United Methodist Church in Sudan, with Rev. Larry Springer of Lubbock and Rev. Inetta Reddell of Lubbock, officiating. Burial was in the Sudan Cemetery, with Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan in charge of arrangements. She was born Sept. 24, 1941 in Muleshoe, to Russell and Ruby (Nixon) Ingle. She married Jim Newman in Sudan on Marcfh 13, 1965. Geneva was a beautician for many years. In school, she was an All-State Basketball player. Geneva was a past member of the Young Homemakers Club; and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sudan. She is preceded in death by her parents.

RICKY CARL GRANT

Ricky Carl Grant, 56, of Littlefield, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 in Littlefield. He was born Aug. 9, 1961 in Littlefield to Billy Carl Grant and Patsy Ann Oberlechner. Ricky loved classic cars, enjoyed music, and working on his cars. He loved his family and was a Christian. He is survived by one son, Billy Lee Grant of Littlefield; a brother, William Carl Grant; a fiancée, Brenda Sanders of Littlefield; and numerous extended family and friends. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

Wayne Frank Green

Wayne Frank Green, 69, of Pep, Texas  passed  from  this  life  on Sunday, November 19, 2017. He was laid to rest on Tuesday No- vember 21st, 2017, in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Wayne was born on September 17, 1948 in Littlefield, TX, to Franklin  Green  and  Lydia Jungman Green. He married Rita Bustamante on Novemeber 28, 1970 in Pep, TX, and  thereafter  moved  to  Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He  is  survived  by  his  wife, Rita; son, Patrick Green; daughters, Erika Green Simpson, Cindy Green Pidgeon, and Christy Green Montes; brother, Steve Green; sisters, Vivian  Henderson,  Karen  Green  Hilgart,  Marilyn  Green Driskill, Glenda Green, Denise Green Sullivan, Francis Spruiell, and Cynthia Green Krenmueller; and 10 grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. A rosary followed by a memorial service mass will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pep, Texas, on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
