JOHN WILLIAM REBER

Funeral services for John William Reber, 85, of Levelland, who died Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 in Levelland, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in George Price Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, in George Price Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery, with George Price Funeral Home directing arrangements. Johnny was born May 28, 1932 in Kansas City, MO, to William and Ethel Marie Mills Reber. He graduated from Seagraves High School, and joined the Army Service Unit from Antiaircraft and Guided Missiles Branch of the Artillery School at Fort Bliss in 1953. He married Margie Porter on March 27, 1954 in Seagraves. He was honorably discharged from the Army, and then attended Texas Tech, where he received his BS degree in Industrial Engineering in 1960. He began work for SPS in Lubbock for 15 years, then was transferred to Levelland where he retired in 1993.

WES MARTIN

Ada Wess Martin, 79, of Littlefield entered into eternal peace Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at his home. A celebration of his life will be held at Trinity Chuch in Littlefield at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, led by Micheal Simpson. Wess was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Floydada, to Thomas Henry and Jimmie Jewel (Isom) Martin. He graduated from Lorenzo High School with the class of 1956. On May 20, 1960, he married Jowanna Ussery in Ralls. Throughout his life, Wess worked in several types of jobs, but his favorfite was the time he and Jowanna spent running The Curly Top Drive-in in Littlefield for 19 years. Even though he has been retired several years, he is still known as “The Curly Top Man.” He was a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan; and he enjoyed square dancing, wood working, and reading, especially Louis westerns by Louis L’amour. Wess is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom Martin; and a sister, Nell Valentine.

JOHN CARROL HODGES

John Carroll (J.C.) Hodges passed away on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 in Lubbock, following complications from a recent fall. Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Anton. Burial will be in Anton Cemetery, with arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. He was born Dec. 12, 1928 in Snyder, Texas. The family moved to the community of Whitharral, in the early 1930’s. J.C. married Joyce Lurea Farmer on April 9, 1950 in Whitharral. They were married 67 years and had 3 children; Johnny Hodges of Anton, Carolyn Mens and husband, Gary of Durant, Oklahoma, and Greg Hodges and wife, Barbara of Anton. J.C. farmed in the Anton area for 30 years, then worked as a school custodian until retiring in 1995. J.C.

LOIS HART

Lois Hart, 84, of Spade, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 in Lubbock. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at Grace Chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park, with arrrangements under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born July 23, 1933 in Littlefield to William “Bill” and Ellen (Lichte) Will. Lois married John Paul Vrubel in 1949 in Littlefield. He died Dec. 10, 1973. She later married Joe Pat Hart, Aug. 20, 1974 in Clovis, N.M. Lois worked for the Lamb County Leader-News as a journalist for several years, and then worked for the Texas Employment Commission and later at Texas Tech as a job placement clerk. She enjoyed camping, and loved square dancing. Lois played the organ at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church for many years.

ROBERT BRUCE GOFF

Memorial service for Robert Bruce Goff, 52, of Tallahassee, Fla., and formerly of Littlefield, who died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 following a motorcycle accident, will be held in Tallahassee sometime this week. Robert was transportd to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where he was dead on arrival. Arrangements have been made for his cremation at Tillman Funeral Home in Tallahassee. Robert was born in Roseboro, N.C. on June 18, 1965. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Benjaman and Loise Goff of Raleigh, N.C. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Goff of San Antonio; his son, Chris Goff of Littlefield; and a brother, Randy Goff of Raleigh, N.C.

STEPHEN L. CUMMINGS

Stephen Lynn Cummings, 48, of Littlefield died Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, in Littlefield. Funeral Services were to be at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at Grace Chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. Cremation arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. Stephen was born Oct. 13, 1968 in Levelland. He married Diana Hernandez on Feb. 8, 1991 in Levelland. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Stephen currently was working at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in the IT Department. He enjoyed shooting his guns, cooking and barbqueing, and anything computer related. He had a big heart, and loved animals and taking care of his family and extended family. He was also a part owner in LSG Tactical Arms in Lubbock.

TAMMIE BUSH

Tammie Bush, 53, life-long resident of Littlefield, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017. Services for Tammie will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at Grace Chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She will be laid to rest in the Anton Cemetery, with arrangements under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. Tammie was born Dec. 27, 1963 in Littlefield to Tommy and Karen (Bishop) Bush. Tammie loved music and her brother Ricky’s playing the piano. She loved her “Nannie”, Electa Bishop, and coloring rocks. Tammie also liked dogs, and babies, and playing with her younger sister, Rhonda, when she was younger.

RICHARD K. SHIPLEY

Richard Kyle Shipley, 58, of Lubbock, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 in Lubbock. He was born July 25, 1959 in Littlefield to Richard and Jane Shipley. Kyle graduated from Littlefield High School. He was a master electrician, working in Plainview and Amarillo for many years with Scott Co Electric. He is survived by his mom and dad, Richard and Jane Shipley of Ransom Canyon; a son, Weston Shipley of Amarillo; a daughter, Cassandra Nance of Arlington; three grandsons; a brother, Steven Shipley of Texas City; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and extended family members. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.

DOLORES CHILDERS

Dolores Childers, 47, of Presidio, Texas, formerly of Littlefield, died July 22, 107 in Presidio. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2017 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born Nov. 25, 1969 to Raymond and Pat Atzbach. Dolores married Chuck Childers in July of 2010. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, and baking for her family. She was a hard worker, and was very driven and dedicated. Dolores is survived by her husband, Chuck Childers of Presidio, TX; two sons, Jeff Brown of Lubbock and Brad Brown of Plainview; five grandchildren, Peyton Brown, Jeremiah Brown, Madison Brown, Conner Brown and Cayden Brown; and Charlie and Tina Brown of Littlefield. Preceding her in dearth was her daughter, Crystal Brown.
