OLETA HATLEY

Oleta Hatley, 94, of Lubbock and formerly of Olton, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, in Lubbock. Graveside services were held Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, at Olton Cemetery with Brad Wangerin officiating. Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton was in charge of arrangements. Oleta was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Chalk, Texas to Frank E. and Ida A. Perry Findley. She was a long-time Olton resident and moved to Lubbock in the 1960s. She was married to Elvis Louis Hatley and he preceded her in death in 1972. She was also preceded in death by her son, Elvis Louis “Butch” Hatley, Jr. in 1968. Survivors include her daughter, Fancy Koonsman of Idalou; one grandson, Kane Koonsman and his wife, Cathy, of Lorenzo; and two great-grandsons, Jim and Kash Koonsman, both of Idalou. Mrs. Lula Helen Brown, 97, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and formerly of Littlefield, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 26, at her home in Denham Springs. Private services were held in Louisiana, and burial was in Littlefield Cemetery Friday afternoon with arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home. She was born on Jan. 21, 1917 in Griffin, Georgia. Lula was a resident of Livingston Parish for the past 22 years. She was a homemaker and a retired school cafeteria cook. She was a Baptist. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larkin Baxter “L.B.” Brown; and her son, Kenneth Brown. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Taylor and husband, Burl; a sister, Pauline King; and by grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

THERESA O’SHEA

Theresa O’Shea, 57, of Littlefield died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 in Littlefield. Cremation arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born Nov. 18, 1956 in Chickasha, Okla. to Evert and Lucille Smith. Theresa attended and graduated from EMNU at Roswell, N.M., where she earned her doctorate degree in Psychology. She married Michael O’Shea in 1983 in Roswell. She was preceded in death by a son, James Kirkendall; a daughter-in-law, Marie Kirkendall; her parents; and a sister, Mary Dishman. She is survived by her husband, Michael O’Shea of Littlefield; two sons, Richard Kirkendall and wife, Stacy, of Whiteface, and Travis Lindsey and wife, Katrina, of Yankton, South Dakota; two daughters, Merlesha Lindsey, and Brenda Waterman and husband, Harold of North Fork, Neb.;14 grandchildren; a brother, Fred Smith and wife, Lisa, of Portales, N.M.; and a sister, Mary Dishman of Oklahoma.
