SHANNON ROSS WEAVER

Shannon Ross Weaver, 48, of Seminole, formerly of Littlefield, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in Seminole. He was born Nov. 27, 1969 in Amarillo, to Johnny Ross Weaver and Margie Chester Weaver. Shannon enjoyed fishing, and being outdoors. He liked cooking out with friends and riding his motorcycle. Shannon is survived by his mother, Margie Weaver of Woodworth, LA; a daughter, Shana Davis and wife, Reyna of Levelland; a granddaughter, Addy Davis of Levelland; a sister, Sherri Spence of Alexandria, LA; niece and nephews, Adam Spence of Alexandria, LA, Hannah Spence of Forrest Hill, LA, and Sam Spence of Alexandria, LA; aunts and uncles, Barbara and Dick McDaniel of Amherst, Larry and Lorena Weaver of Littlefield, Jackie and Sue Weaver of Georgia, and Patricia and Rodney Cates of Washington; and his friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.A. and Pauline Chester and Jack and Mae Weaver; and an uncle, Marvin Weaver. A remembrance service was held Friday afternoon, Jan.

JOYCE NIX

Church service for Joyce Nix, 87, of Olton, who died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, in Olton, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at First United Methodist Church in Sudan, with Rev. Kerry Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery, with Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan in charge of arrangements. Joyce was born March 9, 1930, in Wellington, to Valton Duke and Beula Inez Roach Coker. She married Bill Nix in Brownfield on Aprill 3, 1948. Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sudan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2013; her sister, Oleta Hill; and two brothers, Doug Coker and J.J. Coker. Joyce is survived by her son, Tim Nix and his wife, Joan of Sudan; her daughter, Nancy Dawson and her husband, Ken of Tulia; her brother, Vic Coker and his wife, Judy of Earth; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Nell Cotter Oct. 31, 1932 - Jan. 6, 2018

Nell Cotter, 85, of Littlefield, went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 6, 2018 at her home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the first Presbyterian Church in Littlefield with Ruth Clendenin officiating. Cremation arrange- ments  are  under  the  personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born October 31, 1932 in  Hammon,  Oklahoma  to Radford  and  Ethel  Hutcheson. Nell married M.J. Cotter Aug. 1, 1952 in Dallas, Texas.  She worked many years at Mangum-Hilbun Insurance Agency.    Nell  and  M.J.  enjoyed  square  dancing,  and spending the winters in the Rio Grande Valley in their 5th wheel. They also enjoyed cruising and camping.  She loved reading, tend- ing to her plants, and eating lunch at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Nell also liked having lunch with her special group of friends, and having coffee at McDonald’s with the coffee group.

Bennie P. Martinez Aug. 15, 1949 Jan. 3, 2018 - Vanessa Martinez Jan. 20, 1953 Jan. 5, 2018

Bennie P. Martinez, Jr., 68, of Littlefield, passed away Wednes day, Jan. 3, 2018 in Littlefield.  He was born Aug. 15, 1949 in Artesia, NM to Bernardo Martinez Sr. and Inez Perez Galan. His wife of 50 years, Vanessa Hernandez Martinez, 64, joined him in Heaven just two days later, on Jan. 5, 2018.  She was born Jan. 20, 1953 in Littlefield to Ruben Hernandez and Eugenia Padron Hernandez. Mass was celebrated Monday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield with Richard Martinez officiating.  Interment followed in Littlefield Memorial Park.  A prayer service was held Sunday evening, Jan. 7, 2018 at Grace Chapel with Pastor Billy Montes officiating. Bennie and Vanessa married on Dec. 31, 1967 in Littlefield.  They were true sweethearts, and you rarely saw one without the other.  A true testimony to their devotion for each other is evident in the fact after Bennie died suddenly of illness, Vanessa became ill and followed less than 48 hours later.

Services were to be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Real Life Worship Center in the First United Methodist Church in Littlefield, officiated by his uncle, Rev. Daniel Hutchins and Rev. Danny Sanders. Interment was to be held at 1 p.m., at the Oklahoma Lane Cemetery. He was born Oct. 6, 1990 in Austin. Josh graduated from Farwell High School in 2008. He married Jenna Sanchez Oct. 31, 2012 in Midland. He loved to be outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to workout and lift weights. He loved kids, especially his daughter, and enjoyed helping with the church youth program. Josh attended the Real Life Worship at First United Methodist Church.

SANUL MAURICE LEWIS

Sanul Maurice Lewis died Dec. 27, 2017 at the age of 64. Service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock. He was born May 8, 1953 to Wilson and Agnes Lewis in Amherst, Texas, and grew up at Earth, Texas. He graduated from Springlake-Earth High School in 1971 and from West Texas State University in 1975 with a degree in Industrial Distribution. He married Christine Fullinwider on May 25, 1974. They lived in Canyon, Texas while going to school and have been residents of Lubbock for almost 40 years. He worked for Lubbock Electric Company for 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Christine, of Lubbock; daughter, Krystal Harlow and her husband, David of Edmond, OK; son, Keith Lewis and wife, Beth of Wilmore, KY; grandchild Makenna Marie Harlow; brother, Michael Lewis and his wife, Connie of Amarillo; sister Quency Light and her husband, Gary of Lubbock; sister Nesha Brown and her husband, Tom of Helotes; many nieces and nephews and friends.

DONALD RAY ERWIN

Don Erwin, after a battle with cancer, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, Jan. 5, 2018 at the GrandView Baptist Church, 1401 Interstate 30, Mesquite, Texas. Inurnment will follow at 2:15 p.m. in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He was born June 9, 1935 to Raymond and Vera (Foust) Erwin. Don graduated from Littlefield High School in 1953 and attended Texas Tech University. Don owned a commercial flooring business in the DFW Metroplex. He was a member of the GrandView Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lyudmyla; his daughter, Terry (Tom) Wagner of Lubbock; his son, Tony (Tammy) of Dallas; his granddaughter, Jordan Wagner of Lubbock; and his sisters, Marilyn Price of Cashiers , NC, and Sharon Robinson of Richardson, Texas. Don is also survived by two nephews, Jeff and Rick Robinson, and two nieces, Julie McPherson and Tami Robinson.
