THURSDAY AFTERNOON ACCIDENT

Littlefield EMS, Volunteer Fire Fighters and the Texas Department of Safety, responded to single-vehicle rollover Thursday afternoon west of Littlefield on Highway 54 just past Bull Lake. When Fire Firefighters arrived, the Jaws of Life were used to extract a female driver from her Ford Explorer. Shown are Littlefield EMS and Volunteer Firefighters carrying the victim to the Littlefield Ambulance. At press time, the victim’s name, condition, age or what caused the accident was unavailable

Springlake Fire Department to host July 4 Celebration

The 2018 Springlake Fire Department’s July 4 Celebration in Springlake, will be held Wednesday, July 4.

The festivities get started with the parade at 6 p.m., which will be lining up at 5 p.m. on the south side of Springlake near and along Highway 385.

Virdell ready to get to work as new Sudan AD/Head FootballCoach

Virdell was hired back in May and comes to Sudan after spending the previous four years at Florence as their offensive coordinator.

Katie Hand new District Executive for Boy Scouts of America

Recently, the South Plains Council of Boy Scouts of America, announced Katie Hand as their new District Executive for the George White and Quanah Parker Districts, which includes Littlefield.

The Quanah Parker District covers the southwestern portion of the South Plains Council and includes the counties of Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Gaines and Dawson. Communities within our District include Brownfield, Denver City, Plains, Tahoka, Seminole and others in this region.

Juneteenth celebration declared a success

Littlefield’s 2018 Juneteenth Celebration has been declared to be “A lot better, with a lot more activity” this year.

Most of the action was seen on Saturday, with the parade, the barbecue cook-off and the baked goods cook-off contest, as well as a new “go get prisoners for the jail” so a bail-them-out could be charged.

Lowe, Sr. thanks Littlefield EMS

HONORING EMS – Tuesday at noon, the Littlefield EMS was treated to a special lunch inside the Lowe’s Corporate Office cafeteria. Joel Griffith, Vice President of Human Resources at Lowe’s welcomed everyone in attendance and told them why they were there. Back in May, Griffith said Roger Lowe, Sr., suffered a medical emergency inside the corporate office, and due to the quick actions of the EMTs who responded, Lowe, Sr., was still with them today.

The new road runs north and south along the east side of the new Select Milk Producers, Inc. plant, which is now under construction.
