Lubbock Children’s Healthcare Clinic providing classes

As we begin to welcome a new year in – so too will we welcome being able to provide additional services in Lubbock that work to insure healthy pregnancies and healthy outcomes for Lubbock’s infants and children. As a part of our collaboration with Texas Tech University-Dept. of Education East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood (ELPN), the Parenting Cottage will be providing prenatal classes within the ELPN each Monday at 1:30 PM at the Lubbock Children’s Healthcare Clinic located at 1801 E. 14th (inside the old Posey Elementary School Bldg.).

SECOND GRADE CHOIR

The Primary School’s second-grade choir was called to the stage during the special Christmas program Friday morning. They sang “Must Be Santa”, to the accompaniment of recorded music, and led by their music teacher, Trisha Duncan. Shown seated on the stage to the right, is Israel Martinez, who had led the gathering in singing.

South Plains Irrigation treats customers to lunch

Employees of South Plains Irrigation of Olton greeted guests who attended their annual customer appreciation lunch at noon Friday, Dec. 13, in the Olton Ag Pavilion. Customers enjoyed their steak dinners, with all the trimmings, and many of them received a variety of gifts when their tickets were drawn. Those attending, are shown here getting their tickets for the drawing, which were placed in the “shaker”, shown in the center.

Television Stars Highlight 2014 Broadway Season

Celebrity Attractions and Civic Lubbock’s upcoming 2014 Broadway Season is brimming with stars and brand-name Broadway. Opening the season will be the 2009 Tony Award® winner for Best Musical revival, “Hair”. Sally Struthers closes the season leading a stellar cast in “Hello, Dolly!”. “Hair” – Feb. 28-March 1, 2014, Civic Center Theatre. Friday evening 7:30 p.m., Saturday Matinee 2 p.m., Saturday Evening 7:30 p.m.

Lamb County 4-H Gold Star recipients honored at banquet

Lamb County’s 4-H Gold Star recipients were
honored at the 56 th annual 4-H Gold Star Banquet, which was
held Monday, Nov. 25, in Lubbock at the Frazier Alumni Building on the Texas Tech Campus. Honored were Sadler Pinkerton of the Olton 4-H Club, and Peyton Warren and Sydney White of the Littlefield 4-H Club. Also honored were Kody and Kimbra Carson of Olton, as the Distinguished leaders for Lamb County 4-H. Sarah Clifton, Rural Counties Director and Natural
Resources Advisor for Texas Senator Robert Duncan, was the
keynote speaker. Rebecca Burt of Littlefield, District 2 4-H
president, was Mistress of Ceremonies for the banquet.

The 5th annual 4-H Gold star Banquet was held Monday, Nov. 25, at the Frazier Alumni Building, Texas Tech University in
Lubbock. The 4-H Gold Star Banquet spotlights 4-H Gold Star winners and their achievements, as well as, offering special inspiration and encouragement to all youth. Lamb County 4-H Gold Star recipients are Sadler Pinkerton of the Olton 4-H Club and Peyton Warren and Sydney White of the Littlefield 4-H Club.

AMHERST BELL RINGERS

The Amherst Student Council and National Honor Society members teamed up to collect donations for the Salvation Army of Lamb County. Students rang the bell before school, during lunch, and at the evening basketball games on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and raised $247.

“CELEBRATION OF LIGHT”

Sunday afternoon, a “Celebration of Light” was conducted in memory of lost loved ones this past year. A large crowd attended and participated by placing an ornament, with the name of their loved ones, on a tree at Trinity Church. The special service was sponsored by Legacy of Love Hospice and Hammons Funeral Home.

Reinke recognizes B&M Pump with the Gold Pride Award

B&M Pump,Irrigation Sales and Service, Inc., of Olton received a Gold Reinke Pride Award, at the annual convention held Oct. 20-22, 2013 in Omaha, Neb. The award is in recognition of the company’s 2012-2013 marketing year success. Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leading manufacturer of mechanized irrigation systems, has announced that B & M Pump, Irrigation Sales & Service, Inc. in Olton, has received a Gold Reinke Pride award in recognition of the company’s 2012- 2013 marketing year success. FOOD DELIVERIES

Vehicles representing the 143 families that were served Christmas boxes from five food stations Tuesday morning, are shown as the moved along both sides of the stations. They were receiving a box of frozen foods, a box of dry foods, a Christmas box, a ham and a chicken. Littlefield Junior High School Student Council officers and representatives were helping with the distributions, along with members of the First Baptist Church’s Hunger Relief Ministry team. Usually, there are 126 families that are served, but Tuesday, 143 were served.

U-CAN SHARE DRIVE

Littlefield Cub Scouts are participating in a community effort to feed those who might otherwise go hungry. They will pick up food for the drive in Littlefield. Donations of non-perishable food may be placed in a bag and set on the front porch by 9 a.m. Saturday, or put in the box available at United Supermarket by Saturday, Dec. 7. The food will be donated to the Littlefield Salvation Army.
