Prosperity Bank hosting tailgate party

Prosperity Bank of Littlefield is proud to partner with KCBD and the South Plains Food Bank by sponsoring the 32nd Annual U Can Share Food Drive. To help raise awareness for First Baptist’s Mobile Pantry, Prosperity Bank will be hosting a tailgate party on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the bank, 1601 Phelps Avenue.

SWCD taking tree orders

The Lamb County SWCD is now taking orders through March 6, 2015 for the Spring Windbreak Tree Sales. There is a large variety of trees available, but people are encouraged to get orders in as quickly as possible to ensure the variety and quantity of what they want.

RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY

The Littlefield Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture hosted a ribbon-cutting for the new Lorenz Family Chiropractic, located at 200 E. Waylon Jennings Blvd., Thursday afternoon. The new business held a grand opening all day, in the former Quality Printing building, and offered food, drinks, a coloring contest, costume contest, drawings, and Halloween candy.

New Mt. Olive Baptist hosting Thanksgiving me

New Mt. Olive Baptist Church has been a part of the Littlefield Community for 18 years, and is giving something back to the community. The church has grown and prospered under the leadership of H. K. Thomas, Jr., who is currently in his second year as the leader of this church, and the church is celebrating its successes.

SPC slates Texas Concealed Handgun License class on Nov. 1

South Plains College will offer the Texas Concealed Handgun License class on Nov. 1 (Saturday) in the Law Enforcement Technology building in Room 115 on the Levelland campus. Enrollment is limited. Class will begin at 8 a.m., and will include breaks every hour and a one-hour break for lunch. The classroom portion will be completed by 3 p.m. and the length of the range portion will depend on the number of students.

Martha Haynes celebrates her 100th birthday Oct. 1

MARTHA HAYNES of Littlefield celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 1, 2014. She was born in Kansas, and has been living in Littlefield since the 1939.

Imagine living during the Great Depression, the World Wars, and being a college student in your 50’s. Well, Martha Haynes of Littlefield has indeed done all of these things, and much more in her 100 years on this earth. She was born on Oct. 1, 1914 in Kansas, where she and her family lived until she was 9 years old, when her family decided to move to the small town of Olton.

More than 70 people participated in the Friend to Friend: Staying Well Together Party hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Lamb County in Littlefield, on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014. The Friend to Friend program provided up-to-date information on breast cancer and mammograms and on cervical cancer and Pap tests, encouraged women to get regular mammograms and Pap tests for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer, answered questions and concerns about mammograms and Pap tests, debunked myths regarding screenings and procedures, and helped participants get these important screenings free or for a low cost, if they meet eligibility requirements.
