CHECK PRESENTATION

The Littlefield High Scholl Student Council along with their fellow classmates and teachers, were able to raise $3,300 during their sixth period class competition that they had. The money will be donated to Rockport ISD to help buy school supplies and whatever teachers may need for classes. Hospital Board of Managers receive several reports Tuesday

At noon Tuesday, Sept. 19, members of the Board of Managers of the Lamb County Hospital heard several reports during a regular business meeting.

After the call to order by the President, Tony Barton, there was no business to discuss during an open forum.

Minutes of the Aug. 15 meeting were approved as presented. A review of the financial report was presented by Chris Felton, Chief Financial Officer, who began by saying, “August was a rough month!”

Nichole Merrifield to marry Tanner Heffington Sept. 23

Kambra Nichole Merrifield and Bradley Tanner Heffington, both of Littlefield, have scheduled their wedding date for Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at “The Walnut Tree” at Olton.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Chad and Hyla Merrifield of Peoria, Ariz.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Brad and Kim Heffington of Littlefield.

Nichole is a graduate of Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, Ariz, and also from Grand Canyon University. She is employed at Littlefield High School as the High School math teacher.

Tanner is a graduate of Littlefield High School, and a cotton farmer in the Littlefield area.

Art Club selling cookies to help hurricane victims

The Littlefield High School Art Club is having a fund raiser to earn money to send to the Texas hurricane victims.

The Art Club is selling large chocolare chip, raisin and chocolate cookies for $2 each.

Anyone wishing to purchase some of these cookies to help our Texas friends who are affected by the hurricane, please call Mrs. Tammy Green at Littlefield High School, (806) 385-5683.

Beginning Day held by sorority

Members of the Xi Nu Nu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held their first meeting for the 2017- 2018 year in the home of President Jan McCrary on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017.

Beginning Day has traditionally been the day all active members of Beta Sigma Phi celebrate the beginning of a new sorority year.

CHEERLEADING SQUAD

Littlefield High School Cheerleaders honored a former cheer squad leader, Iris Harlin, resident of Arbor Grace Wellness Center, during the special “Homecoming Ceremonies” for the residents Friday afternoon, Sept. 8. The special recognition brought back memories of her younger years, as she was in a cheering squad. Shown with Iris are: left to right, Daisy Garcia, Trinity Ayala, Marty Birkelbach, Brinleigh Ray, Tiffany Lopez, Monica Orona, Alyssa Castillo, and Jeana Acevedo. During the celebration, finger foods and othe refreshments were served to all of the residents who attended.

Robert Nichols warmed wieners for the hot dogs at noon Saturday in Dunbar Park, and cooked beef patties for the hamburgers.

When those who marched around the Dunbar Community arrived back at Dunbar Park, the meal was ready to be eaten

Howells celebrate 70th wedding anniversary

Rev. and Mrs. Donnie Howell will be honored Saturday, Sept. 9, at a 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. reception at Parkview Baptist Church in Littlefield, in honor of their 70th wedding anniversary.

The celebration will be hosted by their two sons and daughter, Bill and Vickey Howell of Littlefield, and Jackie Howell of Lubbock; and Max and Kathy Ebeling of Plainview. A son, Gary Howell, died in 1986. They are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Donnie Howell and Birdia Bitner were married Sept. 12, 1947 in Frederick, Okla., by Rev. Alton Patton.

Shelby White to marry Cody Vavra on Oct. 7th

Greg and Melete White are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Shelby Megan White, to Cody James Vavra. Cody is the son of Pam Mills of Stephenville and James Vavra of Caldwell.

The wedding will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Littlefield.

Shelby is a 2011 graduate of Littlefield High School and a 2017 graduate of Tarleton State University with a master’s degree in Agricultural and Consumer Resources. She is currently the owner of Color Crazy Greenhouse in Littlefield and manager of Tea2Go in Lubbock.
