Sudan High School Senior wins Capital Farm Credit scholarship

To further strengthen its commitment to youth in agriculture, Capital Farm Credit is continuing its tradition to award 100 scholarships to Texas students.

Among them in 2018, Sudan High School Senior Kaegan Edwards was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Capital Farm Credit’s Littlefield branch office.

HEALTH PROGRAM FOR LIONS

Pam Foshee, a practice representative for Lorenz Family Chiropractic, presented the program Tuesday morning for the Early Risers Lions Club. She was welcomed to the club by Ronnie Vaughn, program chairman. Lorenz Chiropractic offers help for all ages, as they work on the spine to solve problems. Inormation from a stress test form that is completed by the patient, and X-Rays and other conditions are evaluated before they begin treatment. The business now deals with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance to take care of the cost. The new customer consultation fee is $30. The firm also donates to many charities in the community, as a way to give back to the community. To set up an appointment to manage pain, call Dr. Kimberly Lorenz’s office at 806-485-7000.

PROGRAM FOR ROTARY

Pam Foshee, a practice representative for Lorenz Family Chiropractic, addressed the Rotary Club for the club’s May 31 meeting. She advised about the benefits of chiropractic treatment to take care of various health problems. They do free spinal screenings, to detect the various causes of pain in a person’s body.

BICYCLE WINNERS

These two students won the Rotary Club’s Perfect Attendance Challenge. Each Elementary School student who has perfect attendance for the semester is entered into a raffle for a new bicycle. One boy and one girl win a bicycle. The bicycle winners for this semester are Erykah Moore and Emmanuel Lepez, who received the awards Thursday morning, May 24, in an assembly of all of the students who had perfect attendance. Rotarians who attended the presentation, are: left to right, Sue Williamson, Dave Gruver, Brandon Jacobson, Nigel Purdon, Jerry Hernandez, and Dezi Vargas.

Rotary Club honors Scholars at Banquet

Littlefield Rotary Club hosted its annual Rotary Scholarships Award Banquet Tuesday evening, in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church.

The nine Littlefield High School Senior recipients of the 2018 Rotary Scholarships were the special guests, along with their special guests, including parents, some grandparents, some siblings, and current scholars from previous years, who are still utilizing their scholarships.

Area Veterans invited to Resouce meetings

The Central Plains Center’s Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) in Plainview serves nine area counties to assist their veterans, and area veterans are invited to participate. Veteran Resource Meetings are held every second and fourth

 

Thursday of each month, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Plainview Salvation Army Center, located at 201 Ash Streeet (Ash and Second Street). Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will proceed after the meal. The MVPN Peer Services Coordinator is available to assist military service members, veterans, and their families to get help and support; find resources; meet other veterans; or for PTSD, TBI, MSI and MI support. The Military Veteran Service Peer Network also considers assistance to veterans who are having problems with utilities, food, rent, or other situations.
