Trotter, Parker vows exchanged July 1, 2017

Alexis Nacole Trotter and Jared Eugene Parker were married July 1,  2017  at  Le  Chateau Venue  in Littlefield, with Rev. Tanner Wilson  of  First  Baptist  Church  of Littlefield officiating.

Alexis is the daughter of Kasey Trotter of Littlefield, and Crystal Trotter of Andrews.

Mallie McGehee wins Capital Farm Credit’s $1,000 scholarship

To further strengthen its commitment to youth in agriculture, Capital Farm Credit is continuing its tradition of awarding 100 scholarships to Texas students. Littlefield High School Senior Mallie McGehee was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Capital Farm Credit’s Littlefield branch office. In addition to various scholarships given through colleges and universities, as well as other methods, each of Capital Farm Credit’s branch offices across the state is awarding at least one scholarship.

“A big part of our mission is to help rural areas grow and thrive by providing farmers and ranchers with the capital they need to make their businesses successful,” said Ben Novosad, chief executive officer. “We’re also proud to help build the next generation of agricultural producers through our scholarship program. By supporting Texas’ youth, we’re helping invest in the vibrancy of rural communities throughout Texas.”

Type ‘A’ LEDC Board meeting Friday at noon

The Type A Littlefield Economic Development Corpora-tion will meet at 12 noon Friday, July 21, for a special business meeting in the Chamber of Commerce office, 601 East 4th Street in Littlefield.

They will be considering nine agenda items.

Amherst’s celebration set for Saturday, July 29

The Amherst Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Amherst Celebration all day Saturday, July 29, in the Amherst City Park, located south of the Amherst School buildings.

The first thing on the agenda for the day, will be a line-up for the parade, that will begin at 9 a.m. on Main Street, south of Amherst’s City Hall, and on the street running to the area near the gin.

7-15-Burchfield-Baker wedding vows exchanged in private ceremony

Private, outdoor wedding vows were exchanged between Heather Dawn Burchfield of Lubbock, formerly of Spade, and Richard Bernard Baker of Salina, Kans., at 6:45 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at the gazebo on the Lubbock County Courthouse lawn, with Judge Hernandez performing the exchange of vows.

There were no groomsmen or bridesmaids attending the ceremony, but attending witnesses were the couple’s parents, Jay and Sherry Burchfield and Steve and Cindi Baker.

Ring bearer was their puppy dog, Flora.

TRAILER WON BY JONATHAN HURST

The four-wheel trailer that was raffled by the Olton Junior Livestock Association to raise finds to replace the roof and restore the rafter on the animal stalling barn, was won by Jonathan Hurst, in a drawing Saturday night during a special fundraising dinner. Shown seated on the trailer, prior to the dinner, are Macee and Brittnee Parkey. The larger car-hauler trailer was won by Neal Lorenz. Barbara McFadden won the M77 Ruger Hawkeye rifle; and Preston Huguley won the drawing for the Kitchen Aide electric mixer.
