SOFIA AGUILAR DURAN By Joe Gonzales Sofia Aguilar Duran, 82, of Lubbock, formerly of Littlefield, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at her home. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Rosary was recited Monday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 30, 1935 in Littlefield, to Fernando and Consuelo Aguilar. Sofia married Reyes Yfanta Duran Aug. 25, 1952 in Kingsville. She enjoyd spending time with her family and was an excellent seamstress, and crafted quilts and blankets. Sofia was a Catholic, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she also served as a Cursillista. Sofia is survived by her daughters, Irene Duran, and partner, Alfredo Perales of Lubbock and Graciela D. Cowan of Lubbock; a son, Chris Aguilar and wife, Becky of Littlefield; nineteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Monico Aguilar, John Aguilar and Domingo Aguilar all of Littlefield; five sisters, Felipa Duran, Refugia Hernandez, Josie Garcia, Candelaria Zamora, and Manuela Rodriquez all of Littlefield; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reyes Duran; a daughter, Inez Padilla; her parents; a sister, Lupita Delgado; and three brothers, Guadalupe Aguilar, Eduardo Aguilar, and Luis Aguilar. Serving as pallbearers were Javier Duran, Luis Duran, Anthony Aguilar, Joseph Gonzales, Joshua Gonzales, and Alex Duran. Honorary pallbearers were Kacey Cowan and Ethan Gonzales
