Nell Cotter Oct. 31, 1932 - Jan. 6, 2018

Nell Cotter, 85, of Littlefield, went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 6, 2018 at her home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the first Presbyterian Church in Littlefield with Ruth Clendenin officiating. Cremation arrange- ments  are  under  the  personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. She was born October 31, 1932 in  Hammon,  Oklahoma  to Radford  and  Ethel  Hutcheson. Nell married M.J. Cotter Aug. 1, 1952 in Dallas, Texas.  She worked many years at Mangum-Hilbun Insurance Agency.    Nell  and  M.J.  enjoyed  square  dancing,  and spending the winters in the Rio Grande Valley in their 5th wheel. They also enjoyed cruising and camping.  She loved reading, tend- ing to her plants, and eating lunch at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Nell also liked having lunch with her special group of friends, and having coffee at McDonald’s with the coffee group.  She was a dedicated member of the first Presbyterian Church in Littlefield for many years, and never missed a sermon.  Nell was active in her community, volunteering her time with the Girl Scouts, Lamb County Veteran’s Memorial,  and the United Way, among others.  Nell taught literacy classes at the prison, and at the library.  She was accepting of everyone, and was always helping people.  Nell was a ‘cyber friend’ to many, offering the daily weather forecast, trivia knowl- edge, and even a political view or two.  She was a wonderful mother, and ‘Grandma’ or ‘Ma’ to her family. Nell is survived by her daughter, Wanda Cotter of Littlefield; a son, Michael Cotter and wife, Gwen of Littlefield; four grandchil- dren, Tyler  Cotter  of Albuquerque,  Kelsey  Hanks  and  husband, Tim of Los Lunas, NM, Matt Foust and wife, Katie of Grapevine, and Nick Foust of Littlefield; seven great-grandchildren, Tayden, Brooklyn, Austin, Payton, Natalia, Lyndon, and Jansen; two brothers,  Radford  Hutcheson  of  Las  Cruces,  NM  and  her  twin,  Jerry Hutcheson of Campbell, CA; a sister, Ruthe Garagnon of Coos Bay, Oregon; and other extended family members and many Facebook friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.J. Cotter in 2008; her parents; and a sister, Cordy Hoefs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Lamb County Veteran’s Memorial or the Littlefield Senior Citizens.
