Clifford Hopping, 84 of Lubbock died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017. A visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, and a Celebration of Life service was held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Lubbock. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park. He was born March 2, 1933 in Littlefield, to Sydney Coke and Loraine (Pass) Hopping. Clifford graduated from Littlefield High School in 1949 where he was on the State Championship Football Team. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his discharge, he married Eva Fields on Jan. 23, 1955. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1958 with his degree in Industrial Psychology. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lubbock. He served as District Deputy of the Grand Lodge of Texas, was a Tennis USTA Certified referee and umpire, and had served on the Board of the Texas Tennis Association. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Coke, Scott, and Corey Hopping; and sister, Billie Stockton. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Eva; daughters-in-law, Laura Williams and Edie Hopping; grandchildren, Ryan Hopping and wife, Ariel, Dancey Creel and husband, Chet, Clint Hopping and wife, Macy, and Tate Hopping and wife, Emily; and great-grandchildren, Alyvia and Audrey Hopping, True and Haven Creel.
