Margaret Echevarria

Margaret Echevarria died Sat- urday,  November  18,  2017  in Littlefield, Texas. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November  24,  2017  at  Trinity Church in Littlefield, Texas with Pastor Marcus Flores officiating. Margaret was born October 6, 1944 in Peggy, Texas to Ben and Eusevia Echevarria. They later moved to Littlefield, Texas where she  grew  up  and  attended school. Margaret graduated from South Plains College and West Texas  State  University.  She taught school 28 years in Amarillo, Plainview, and Dimmitt, retiring in 2003.  Following retirement she taught at the Bill Clayton Detention Center and South Plains Academy. She also taught the after school CIS program in Littlefield for 5 years. Margaret enjoyed acting in theater plays, writing songs and poetry. She wrote a 9-11-2001 gospel song “God Will See Us Through It All”, which was recorded in Nashville by Dr. Leon Joplin. She was also a singer in a country-western band, The Panhandle Playboys, in the early seventies. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved designing clothes. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Marshall Echevarria. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cindy Flores of Plainview; son, Marty Rangel of Littlefield; five granddaughters Shelli Rangel, Roxanne Garcia, Leah Garcia and Nikki Flores all of Plainview, and Jessica Hobgood of Florida; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Perez (Robert), Louisa Boyce (Quincy), Mary Ellen Rangel (Albert), and Juanita Fortenberry (Michael) all of Littlefield; and one brother, Able Echevarria (Ophelia) of Ama- rillo. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Calvary Boys Ranch, Route 2 Box 1497, Checotah, Oklahoma 74226. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
