Anton comes up short against Nazareth, 47-46

The Anton Bulldogs’ varsity football team lost a heart-breaker on Thursday as they fell to the Swifts in Nazareth, 47-46, finishing the season as District 2-1A Six-Man Division I runner-ups.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 8-2 overall, 2-1 in district play.

The Swifts won the toss and elected to receive to begin the game. Anton attempted an onside kick to start the game, but the ball did not travel 15 yards, giving Nazareth the ball at their own 36-yard line.

Nazareth was able to drive into the red zone, but on fourth and goal from the Anton 14-yard line, Traytan McLain’s pass intended for Jake Gerber fell incomplete for a turnover on downs with 7:05 to play in the first quarter.
