Adelia LaNell Payne

On Sunday night, LaNell Payne lost her short battle with cancer but gained the victory of eternal life. Funeral services will be Friday, March 7, 10 a.m. in the Duggan Ave. Church of Christ. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hammon’s Funeral Home in Littlefield. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home. LaNell McCaleb Payne was born August 9, 1937 in Anson, to Ervin and Thelma McCaleb. She married Bobby J. Payne, her husband of 55 years, on June 22, 1958, in Anson. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Janet. She is survived by her husband Bob; two sons, Robert and his wife, Christy, of Littlefield, Michael and his wife, Renee, of Amarillo; and a daughter, Sheri Phillips and her husband, Larry Phillips of Seagraves; five granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters. She is also survived by a brother, Jack McCaleb of Scranton, Ark.; a sister, Janice Todd of Mesquite; and a brother, Tommie McCaleb of Norman, Okla. She was a devoted mother, homemaker and Christian and will be greatly missed. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales, New Mexico.
