Funeral services for Ira Jephcott, 80, of Levelland, who died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 in Levelland, were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 26, at First Baptist Church, Levelland. Dr. Sammy Elliott and Rev. Paton Parrish, officiated. Burial was in City of Levelland Cemetery, with George Price Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ira was born on July 14, 1933 on the family farm at Ropesville. He grew up in Ropesville and graduated from Ropesville High School, then attended Texas Tech. Ira married Patsy Patterson on Dec. 24, 1953 in Lubbock. He farmed at Ropesville and later went into the office supply business, working for several Lubbock office supply firms, the last being Frank McGlaun Office Supplies. In 1967, he bought Script Office Supply in Levelland , which he operated until 2003. In 1968, he and Patsy moved to Levelland and he became active in the community as a member of the Levelland Lions Club and a patron of the Hockley County Stock Show. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Levelland. In 2000, he was nominated a member of the Republican Business Council and was also named “Republican of the Year”. He is survived by his wife, Patsy of Levelland; his son, Gary Jephcott and his wife, Pam, of Littlefield; his daughters, Donna Gholson and her husband, Randy, of Georgetown; Sharon Lott and her husband, Chuck, of Poolsville, Maryland, and Alice Rhodes and her husband, Ryan, of Littlefield: 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Interim Hospice, 707 College, Levelland, or to the American Heart Association.
