JANIE HYATT MINTER

Janie Naomi (Hyatt) Minter, 63, of Rowlett, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father on Jan. 6, 2014. Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Pickton, TX, Saturday, Jan. 11, with lunch at noon, viewing at 1 p.m., and service at 2 p.m. She was born in Littlefield on Nov. 7, 1950, to the now late Paul and Naomi Hyatt. Janie graduated from Littlefield High School in 1969 where she was a majorette, honor graduate, and Salutatorian of her class. Her family was advised that she had the highest Math SAT score in the history of Littlefield High School at the time of her graduation. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1973 with majors in Math and Business Administration. Janie worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas in the supply, defense, and software branches from 1973 until 1996, doing accounting and financial planning. She then worked in accounting for Sterling Computer until 2000 and finally for DRS until 2005 when she retired due to declining health. Janie was active in many sports including water skiing, snow skiing, bowling, and softball. She was very artistic and liked to doodle and draw. She was a musician who played piano and the drums. She enjoyed “hanging out” with her daughter and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Tom Minter. She is survived by her daughter, Kasey Minter; and stepson, Thomas Minter, of Rowlett; and her brother, Terry Hyatt, of Plano. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
