Roy Bussey

Roy Bussey, 89, of Littlefield, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 in Littlefield. Funeral services for Roy were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2013 at Grace Chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home with Mike DeLoach officiating. Interment was in Littlefield Memorial Park with arrangements under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. He was born Dec. 16, 1924 to George W. and Stella Bussey in Iowa Park, Texas. Roy was a 61-year resident of Littlefield and retired from Southwest Public Service in 1986 after 39 years of service. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Littlefield, and Littlefield Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He played a big role in getting the Lamb County Veterans Memorial built, and was very active in the Littlefield VFW. Roy married Faye Bussey on Sept. 7, 1947 in Hereford, and she was the mother of their two children, Royce and Sissy. Faye Nov. 9, 1994. He married Helen Butler on March 28, 2000. Waiting for him in Heaven were his wife, Faye Bussey; his son, Royce Bussey. who died Aug. 27, 2013; his parents; three sisters; and five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Helen Bussey of Littlefield; a daughter, Stella Goyne and husband, Coy of Plainview; daughter-in-law, Gayle Bussey of Littlefield; sister-in-law, Marzell Powell of Dimmitt; grandchildren, Greg and Shelby Goyne of Colorado Springs, Colo., Brad and Cynthia Bussey of Littlefield, Cisti and Paul Pinkert of Levelland and Melissa and David Quartemaine of Temple; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. . Serving as pallbearers were Greg Goyne, Brad Bussey, Matthew Pinkert, Gary Squires, Dennis McCain, and Ben McKinnon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the South Plains Honor Flight, PO Box 94787, Lubbock, Texas 79493.
