Lamb County Judge James Mike DeLoach, was presented the prestigious state-wide 2013 EMS Educator Award Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the 28th annual Texas EMS Conference in Fort Worth. Making the presentation was Dr. David Lakey, Commissioner for the State Department of Health Services. Judge DeLoach was nominated for the award by people from all over this area. DeLoach has presented classes several times at past conferences, and currently serves on the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Committee (the State EMS Committee), which is appointed by the governor. He taught EMS classes more than 20 years, before being elected to the County Judge’s office. He taught at Texas Tech, South Plains College, and Clovis Community College. He still coordinates and sets curriculum, gets classes approved, then signs course completion certificates for those who take the EMS training. “I attribute this award to the foundation that we established with the Littlefield EMS and South Plains EMS Region. The services in Lamb County gave me my start, and I’m fortunate to have had the privilege to serve Lamb County first,” DeLoach said.
